Camila Mendes Is the Undisputed Style Queen of the ‘Masters of the Universe’ Press Tour
When a film arrives carrying the weight of a beloved franchise revival, the cast’s promotional run becomes its own kind of spectacle. ‘Masters of the Universe‘, the long-awaited live-action adaptation of the classic Mattel property, has been generating serious buzz well ahead of its theatrical debut, and much of that conversation has centered on its leading cast stepping up with some of the most memorable red carpet fashion of the year.
Directed by Travis Knight and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film carries a reported budget of between 170 and 200 million dollars and features a stacked ensemble including Nicholas Galitzine, Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, and Kristen Wiig. The story follows Prince Adam’s return to his home planet of Eternia, where he must team up with his closest allies to overthrow the tyrannical Skeletor and embrace his destiny as He-Man.
At the center of the film’s fashion conversation has been Camila Mendes, who plays Teela, the warrior captain and one of Adam’s most loyal allies. Across the month of May, Mendes has delivered three standout premiere looks with impressive range, resisting any single predictable formula while maintaining a throughline of unmistakable glamour.
Her first major moment came courtesy of a custom Cong Tri gown styled with Bvlgari jewels, finished in a coppery sequinned fabric with a dramatic scarf detail that swept from her shoulders like a built-in train.
The deep chocolate brown halter gown seen in the latest images making the rounds online has become a particular fan favourite. The dress features a plunging halter neckline extending all the way to the waist, anchored by a small metallic gold ring detail, with the fabric flowing into a long skirt finished with a bold thigh-high slit. Her styling was minimal but polished, featuring a slicked-back wet-look bob and simple gold accessories that complemented the warm earthiness of the ensemble.
That look landed alongside equally praised appearances at other stops on the global tour. At the Berlin premiere, Mendes turned to a vintage Roberto Cavalli piece from the brand’s pre-fall 2010 collection, featuring asymmetrical off-the-shoulder straps and a fitted bodice with exposed boning beneath leopard print fabric.
For the UK premiere in London, she wore a custom Anna October silk white halter gown with a knotted waist detail and a plunging backless design, with her styling completed by artist Alex Babsky and curated by stylist Molly Dickson.
One particularly charming detail from the London stop was that Mendes wore her character Teela’s blue-tinted contact lenses on the red carpet, a subtle but striking nod to the role she has clearly poured herself into.

With the film set to open in American cinemas on June 5 through Amazon MGM Studios, anticipation is at a peak. The world premiere already took place at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on May 18, with original He-Man actor Dolph Lundgren also in attendance to celebrate the franchise’s return. The fashion, the nostalgia, and a cast that clearly believes in what they have made are all conspiring to give this one serious momentum.
