Sydney Sweeney’s work on Euphoria continues to be one of the most talked-about parts of the series, even after production wrapped. New comments from series creator Sam Levinson have brought attention back to her performance and the creative discussions behind some of Cassie’s most intense Season 3 moments.

Levinson recently spoke about Sweeney during an appearance on The New York Times Popcast. He discussed how one of Cassie’s key Season 3 storylines originally raised questions during development, especially around how certain scenes would be filmed.

In the season, Cassie becomes involved in a storyline where she turns to OnlyFans in order to help pay for an expensive wedding to Nate Jacobs. Levinson explained that while writing and planning the scenes, there was early consideration about reducing or avoiding nudity in parts of the storyline.

He said he initially thought about shooting the material in a more covered way, but Sweeney quickly responded to that idea. According to Levinson, she pointed out that Cassie’s job in the storyline specifically involved being an OnlyFans creator, which made the idea of avoiding nudity feel inconsistent with the character’s reality.

Levinson described her response as direct and honest, saying she made a “fair point,” and the creative team ultimately stayed closer to the original vision of the story. The exchange, he explained, helped reinforce how important character authenticity was in shaping the final version of the scenes.

Speaking about their working relationship, Levinson emphasized the trust between him and Sweeney. He described her as someone who fully commits to her roles and is not afraid to challenge ideas when she feels something does not align with the character. He also spoke positively about her professionalism on set.

Levinson said, “There’s a lot of trust that we have,” and referred to Sweeney as “totally fearless” and “a wonderfully professional” performer. He added that the goal behind the production process was always to support the actors and make sure they felt safe while working through emotionally and physically demanding material.

He further explained that creating a comfortable environment on set is essential to getting strong performances. According to Levinson, actors tend to give their most honest work when they feel secure and supported in their creative choices. He said, “I believe very strongly that the best, most honest performances are when an actor feels free and safe. That’s how you get a great performance.”

Sweeney’s role as Cassie has been one of the most discussed parts of Euphoria since the show first premiered in 2019. Over time, she has built a career that includes a range of film and television projects such as Anyone But You, Immaculate, Reality, Madame Web, and The White Lotus.

With Season 3 of Euphoria now completed, discussions around the show continue to surface through interviews, behind-the-scenes comments, and fan reactions. Levinson’s recent remarks highlight the collaborative process behind some of the show’s most challenging scenes and the creative trust between director and actor.
