For months, Marvel fans have been piecing together the puzzle of how exactly Bruce Banner fits into the story of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. Merchandise leaks, toy lines, and trailer descriptions have all hinted at something big, something the studio has gone to considerable lengths to keep under wraps. Now, a leaked still image circulating online has given the most striking visual confirmation yet of the Green Goliath’s fearsome new form.

The still, shared online and attributed to leaker @ProjectHurts, shows what appears to be a grey, rampaging Hulk standing in a wrecked interior environment, with Spider-Man visible in the background.

The image aligns with months of accumulated evidence pointing toward Bruce Banner losing control of his transformation in the film, reverting to an older, more dangerous version of himself. This is not the charming, articulate Smart Hulk that fans have grown accustomed to since ‘Avengers: Endgame’. This is something older and angrier.

Editor’s Note: Yes, this looks fake as hell, but I need to remind everyone that stuff with unfinished VFX usually looks low-grade and downright photoshopped. Also, the account that leaked this image and several other “alleged” leaks got nuked. In truth, we won’t be able to tell whether this is legit or not until the movie releases. Cheers.

The leaked still lines up precisely with details from a rumored second trailer description that has been circulating online.

According to the alleged trailer description, Bruce Banner warns Peter Parker that if he ever sees him without his inhibitor device, he should run, with Banner yelling immediately afterward to drive the point home. The inhibitor in question is the same Hulk-suppressing wristband technology introduced in the Disney series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, which appears to malfunction under circumstances the film has not yet officially revealed.

One detail that has caught the attention of the fan community is the colouring of the Hulk in the leaked still. Earlier rumors had described the Savage Hulk in the film as grey in his original design, and while the leaked trailer footage reportedly shows the character appearing green, insiders have suggested that Marvel may have shifted the color for the trailer specifically, possibly to align with broader audience recognition, without confirming whether the theatrical cut will retain that change.

Previously released official stills from the film showed Spider-Man apparently working to repair the inhibitor device Bruce Banner was wearing, with the implication being that the Hulk is already loose at that point in the story and Peter is attempting to use the device to bring Banner back under control. The green glow on Spider-Man’s web-shooters in the Empire Magazine cover image, combined with merchandise referencing anti-gamma webs, has intensified speculation that the Hulk functions as the film’s primary physical antagonist.

The leaked image adds weight to a film that already had more moving parts than any previous solo Spider-Man adventure. A leaked synopsis describes Peter Parker undergoing a genetic mutation that unlocks organic webbing but costs him control of his body, with the street-level story involving Scorpion, the Hulk, and the Punisher shaping up to be unlike any Spider-Man film before it. Tom Holland himself has reportedly described the film as a rebirth rather than a sequel, which tracks with a story in which Peter faces a physical transformation of his own while simultaneously contending with a Hulk who has lost his.

The prevailing fan theory behind the Hulk’s transformation centers on Sadie Sink’s mystery character, widely rumored to be Jean Grey, who is described in leaked trailer footage as jumping from mind to mind while hunting Spider-Man and possessing the ability to alter the mental state of those around her, including Banner. If accurate, it would mean the Hulk storyline and the mutant storyline are not separate threads but one and the same, with Banner’s loss of control a direct consequence of psychic interference.

The second official trailer for ‘Brand New Day’ is reportedly expected to drop on June 17, according to insider Daniel Richtman, which would give fans their first official, studio-approved look at what the leaked still has already shown them. Until then, the image will continue to circulate, and the hype machine will keep building toward the film’s July 31 release.
