‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland’ Official Trailer Drops — Here’s Everything We Know
Disney has released the official trailer for Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, and fans are already getting a first glimpse at the next chapter in the popular fantasy franchise. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming film.
The movie is the fifth installment in the Descendants series and continues the story that began in Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024). It is directed by Kimmy Gatewood and written by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. The film is produced by Disney Channel and is expected to arrive in summer 2026 on both Disney Channel and Disney+.
According to information from Disney’s official announcement, the story picks up after the events of the previous film, following Red and Chloe as they try to adjust to life after their time-traveling adventure. Their return is not peaceful for long, as they are pulled into a new conflict tied to Wonderland and the consequences of changing time itself.
The official synopsis explains that a new villain tries to use the magic of Wonderland for their own plan during the Kingdom Cup Games. As danger grows, Red and Chloe must work together again to protect Wonderland and stop a threat that could change everything they know. The story continues to explore the idea that altering the past always comes with consequences.
The cast brings back several familiar faces. Kylie Cantrall returns as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, while Malia Baker reprises her role as Chloe Charming, daughter of Cinderella and King Charming. Leonardo Nam also returns as Maddox Hatter. Rita Ora, Brandy, and Melanie Paxson are back as the Queen of Hearts, Cinderella, and Fairy Godmother.
New characters are also joining the story. Liamani Segura plays Pink, Red’s younger sister, while Brendon Tremblay appears as Max Hatter. Other new additions include Alexandro Byrd, Kiara Romero, Joel Oulette, and Zavien Garrett, each playing the children of well-known fairy tale characters. Awkwafina also joins the cast as the voice of a new character named Cheesy.

Production took place in Canada at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver. Filming started in April 2025 and wrapped in May 2025. The project is produced by Suzanne Todd Productions, Potato Monkey Productions, GWave Productions, and Disney Branded Television.
After the release of The Rise of Red, producers had already hinted that the story could continue. Suzanne Todd previously said that the ending left room for more stories, especially with the theme of time travel and its consequences. Later, the new film was officially greenlit in early 2025, confirming the continuation of the franchise.
The newly released trailer shows a mix of fantasy, adventure, and darker stakes compared to earlier films. It highlights the return of familiar characters while teasing new conflicts in Wonderland. The teaser has already started building excitement among fans waiting for the 2026 release.
With the trailer now out, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland is officially one of Disney’s most anticipated upcoming projects.
