Jodie Sweetin became a familiar face to millions of viewers when she played Stephanie Tanner on Full House. She was only 5 years old when she joined the popular sitcom in 1987, growing up in front of fans as the show became one of the biggest family TV hits of its time.

However, behind the happy image people saw on screen, Sweetin faced serious personal struggles after the show ended. During an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Podcast, the actress opened up about her past addiction and the difficult years that followed her childhood fame.

Sweetin explained that losing the structure of Full House at such a young age left her struggling with her identity. After the series ended, she was only 14 years old and had trouble understanding what came next in her life. She eventually turned to drugs and alcohol while trying to cope with those feelings.

Looking back on that period, Sweetin shared how serious things became for her.

“I did not think I would live to see my 30th birthday at the way things were going in my mid-twenties,” she admitted during the podcast interview. “The point for me was to go too far.”

Her honesty about addiction has received a strong response from fans, many of whom praised her for sharing such a personal story. Social media users thanked the actress for being open about her struggles and for showing that asking for help can be a sign of strength.

One fan wrote that Sweetin’s conversation helped show “the strength it takes to get help,” while another praised her growth, saying they admired her activism and the way she has used her experiences to support others.

Sweetin’s story also highlights a larger issue faced by many former child stars. Growing up in the public eye can come with pressure, and several actors have spoken about their own struggles after early success. Stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, and Robert Downey Jr. have also shared their experiences with addiction and recovery.

Today, Sweetin’s life looks very different. The actress has been sober since 2011 and now works as an addiction coach and counselor. She uses her own experiences to help people who are dealing with similar challenges.

She has also continued sharing her story through writing and interviews. Sweetin released her memoir, Unsweetined, in 2009, and later recorded the audiobook version to reach even more people.

While many fans still remember her as Stephanie Tanner from Full House, Sweetin has built a new identity beyond her childhood role. Through her advocacy work and public conversations, she has become someone who encourages others to seek support and believe that change is possible.
