Netflix Cancels 9 Shows in 2026 — Including 3 Fans Didn’t Even Know Were Gone
Netflix has made plenty of decisions about its original TV lineup in 2026, with the streamer renewing several popular shows while also ending a number of series. Some cancellations were announced publicly, while others happened quietly without a major statement from Netflix.
The latest update, covering decisions made through June 14, includes major titles such as Emily in Paris, The Night Agent, The Lincoln Lawyer, My Life with the Walter Boys, and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.
Fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder received good news on June 9 when Netflix renewed the series for a third and final season. The new season has already been filmed and will include four episodes.
Netflix also renewed Devil May Cry for a third and final season on June 3. Showrunner Adi Shankar explained that the series was always planned as a larger story. “This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso,” he said, adding that the three seasons together make up “The Force Edge Saga.”
Not every show received a formal cancellation announcement. The game show What’s in the Box?, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, was quietly canceled after one season. TV journalist Matt Webb Mitovich reported that he heard there were no plans for more episodes.
Netflix also renewed Quarterback for season 3. The sports documentary will follow NFL stars including Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, Cam Ward, and Joe Flacco. The new season will premiere on July 14.
Comedy series Big Mistakes is also returning for season 2. Creator and star Dan Levy shared his excitement about continuing the show, saying, “Very grateful and beyond excited to continue the Big Mistakes adventure and my creative collaboration with Netflix.”
My Life with the Walter Boys received an early renewal, with season 4 already confirmed before season 3 arrives. Showrunner Melanie Halsall said the team still has many stories to tell, calling the upcoming season full of “romantic, sexy and messy stories.”
Netflix renewed several more fan favorites in May. Running Point, starring Kate Hudson, will return for season 3, while Love is Blind was renewed for season 11 with the new season set in Boston.
The Lincoln Lawyer was renewed for season 5, but Netflix confirmed it will be the final season. The Night Agent was also renewed, but its upcoming fourth season will end the series.
Reality shows also had a strong year. Temptation Island will return for season 3, Selling Sunset was renewed for season 10, and Love on the Spectrum received a season 5 renewal. Selling Sunset is expected to look very different, with several cast members reportedly leaving.
The Stranger Things universe continues to expand, as Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 was renewed for season 2. The animated series follows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max in a new story set in Hawkins.
Some shows were not as lucky. Selling the City was quietly canceled after one season, with TMZ reporting that Netflix wanted to focus on the main Selling Sunset franchise. Miss Governor was also canceled after one season, with star Terri J. Vaughn saying she was heartbroken by the decision.
Reality dating series Pop The Balloon Live was canceled after one season, according to Deadline. Terminator Zero also ended after one season despite positive reviews. Creator Mattson Tomlin explained that the audience numbers were not strong enough. “The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it,” he said.
Class was another quiet cancellation after previously being renewed. Star Gurfateh Pirzada confirmed the news online, saying fans loved the show but another season was not happening.
Netflix also renewed Finding Her Edge for season 2 and A Man on the Inside for season 3. Ted Danson’s comedy series will continue with new episodes.
Meanwhile, several other shows ended. The Abandons, starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, was canceled after one season. The Vince Staples Show was canceled after two seasons. With Love, Meghan was also reportedly finished, according to Page Six.
Netflix renewed Black Mirror for season 8, with creator Charlie Brooker confirming the return. “I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” he said.
Finally, Emily in Paris was renewed for season 6, but Netflix later confirmed it would be the show’s final season.
With dozens of renewals and cancellations already announced, Netflix’s 2026 lineup shows the streamer is continuing to focus on successful franchises while making difficult decisions on shows that fail to attract enough viewers.
