Netflix has found a major global hit with its new crime drama series Nemesis, which has quickly become one of the most-watched titles on the platform worldwide.

The show premiered on May 14, 2026, with all eight episodes released at once. This full-season drop allowed viewers to binge the entire story in one sitting, a format that appears to have helped drive its massive viewing numbers. The series is designed as a tense, character-driven crime thriller set in Los Angeles.

Nemesis was created by Courtney A. Kemp and Evan Vincent Washington. Kemp is also known for her work on the hit crime franchise Power. The show’s writing team includes Monica Mitchell, Mike Flynn, and Gabriela Uribe, while Tani Marole serves as showrunner. Direction across the series is handled by Mario Van Peebles, Millicent Shelton, Rob Hardy, and Ruben Garcia.

The story follows a dangerous game between two main characters. One is a disciplined LAPD detective, and the other is a highly skilled criminal mastermind. The series builds around their ongoing conflict as they try to outsmart each other in a high-stakes battle that takes place in Los Angeles. As the tension grows, both characters risk their families, careers, and personal freedom. The central idea is simple: only one of them can win.

The main cast includes Tre Hale, Cleopatra Coleman, Domenick Lombardozzi, Matthew Law, and Y’lan Noel. Other important roles are played by Gabrielle Dennis, Sophina Brown, Ariana Guerra, Cedric Joe, Michael Potts, Jonnie Park, and Jeff Pierre. The characters form two connected worlds, one inside law enforcement and the other inside a criminal network, with relationships that often overlap and create conflict.

Y’lan Noel plays Coltrane Wilder, a professional thief and one of the key figures in the criminal side of the story. Matthew Law plays Isaiah Stiles, an LAPD lieutenant leading the investigation. Cleopatra Coleman plays Ebony Wilder, who is closely tied to Coltrane’s operations, while Tre Hale plays one of his crew members. On the law enforcement side, Domenick Lombardozzi plays a detective working alongside Isaiah Stiles, adding pressure to the ongoing investigation.

The series has received mixed but strong attention from critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds about 76 percent approval from critics. However, audience scores are lower, around 52 percent, showing a divide in how viewers respond to the story and pacing.

Despite mixed reactions, the strong streaming numbers suggest that Nemesis has connected with a large global audience. Its fast rise in popularity shows the continued strength of crime dramas on Netflix, especially those built around rivalry, moral conflict, and high-intensity storytelling.

The series continues to gain attention as one of Netflix’s biggest releases of 2026 so far, and its long-term success will depend on whether viewers stay engaged after the initial binge wave fades.
