‘Nemesis’ Cliffhanger Has Fans Talking as Y’lan Noel Teases Season 2
Y’lan Noel is speaking about his role in “Nemesis,” the new Netflix thriller that has quickly gained attention for its action and its intense character drama. The series follows a long-running conflict between a criminal mastermind and a determined detective played by Matthew Law. It builds toward a dramatic finale that leaves the story open for more.
In the interview, Noel says he is already excited about the idea of continuing the story in a second season. He makes it clear that he wants the next chapter to push things even further. He said, “I hope it’s more danger and more action.” He also added, “Watching the first half reminded me how far the story goes, and I can’t wait to see how much further these two men can take this rivalry.”
For Noel, the role is not just about playing someone dangerous. He explains that he wanted the character to feel real and human, not just a typical villain. A big part of his performance came from focusing on emotional pain and inner struggle rather than surface-level traits.
He says the writing helped with that approach. According to Noel, the creators gave him a character with depth from the start. He said, “First, I think it started with the script. Courtney and Tani wrote somebody who was allowed to be fully fleshed out. He wasn’t just one stereotype.”
He also described how he shaped the character’s personality through control and calmness. Even though the character works in a chaotic world, Noel focused on making him appear careful and controlled on the outside. He said, “There’s a meticulousness about him, which comes from him being a criminal. It’s a very chaotic job, so you’ve got to find some calmness.”
But the deeper focus, he explains, was on emotional damage. Noel said he was more interested in what the character was carrying inside. He said, “I was very interested in finding the pain and the wounds that he has — how he navigates his grief and the things he was running from more so than what he was running toward.”
The role also required a lot of physical work. The series includes action scenes, chase sequences, and heist moments that demanded energy and stamina. Noel says he enjoyed that side of the job and embraced the physical challenge. He explained that he likes giving everything to a role, even when it becomes exhausting.

He also connects the role to his real-life background in sports. Before acting, Noel was focused on athletics, especially track and field. He says that experience helped him handle the physical demands of filming. He recalls thinking about sport as a possible long-term career before shifting to acting, which he now sees as a more lasting path.
The action scenes in “Nemesis” also reminded him of earlier projects where he played physically active roles. He says fans who enjoyed his past work will likely appreciate this return to high-energy performances.
Beyond action and character work, Noel also talks about the setting of the series. “Nemesis” was filmed across Los Angeles, which he says adds to the atmosphere of the show. The city becomes part of the story itself, shaping the tone and energy of the scenes.
Even with all the action, Noel says the emotional connection between the two main characters is what stands out most. He believes their mutual respect and shared understanding drive the story forward more than anything else.
As the first season ends on a cliffhanger, Noel is hopeful that the story continues. He makes it clear that he wants more time with the character and more space to explore the rivalry at the center of the show.
