The magic is officially back. Warner Bros. Pictures has released the new trailer for ‘Practical Magic 2’, giving fans their first major look at the long-awaited sequel starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.

Nearly 30 years after the original movie introduced audiences to the Owens sisters, the new film returns to the world of family secrets, powerful spells, and supernatural trouble. The trailer promises a mix of comedy, drama, and magical chaos as Sally and Gillian Owens face another dangerous chapter in their lives.

In the upcoming sequel, Bullock and Kidman return as sisters Sally and Gillian, who must deal with a dark curse that threatens their family. Warner Bros. describes the film as a story filled with “moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic” as the Owens family fights to protect everything they have built.

The new trailer also introduces several new characters joining the magical world. Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod are part of the new cast, while Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing return as the beloved aunts who helped shape the original story.

The first ‘Practical Magic’, released in 1998, became a cult favorite thanks to its mix of romance, humor, and supernatural themes. The sequel looks to continue that legacy while bringing a new conflict that expands the Owens family story.

The film is directed by Susanne Bier, who takes over behind the camera for the new chapter. The screenplay comes from Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel, based on Alice Hoffman’s novel ‘The Book of Magic’.

Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed that the movie is being produced by Denise Di Novi, Sandra Bullock, and Nicole Kidman. The project also includes executive producers Donald Sabourin, Alice Hoffman, Andrew A. Kosove, and Broderick Johnson.

The production team behind the sequel includes several experienced filmmakers. Simon Duggan serves as director of photography, Tom Burton is the production designer, Sam Williams handles editing, and Rupert Gregson-Williams provides the music.

The return of Bullock and Kidman has been one of the biggest reasons fans have been excited about the project. Both actresses have previously spoken about their interest in returning to the world of ‘Practical Magic’, with Kidman saying they found a way to continue the story of the Owens family.

The new trailer suggests that the sequel will keep the heart of the original film while adding bigger magical challenges. The story appears focused on family bonds, old curses, and the consequences that come with the Owens family’s unique abilities.

‘Practical Magic 2’ will arrive in theaters in North America on September 11, 2026, with international releases beginning September 9, 2026. The film is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is expected to bring longtime fans and new audiences back into the world of the Owens witches.
