Marvel Studios has released a brand-new trailer for Season 2 of X-Men ’97, giving fans a closer look at what’s coming when the hit animated series returns next week. After becoming one of Marvel’s biggest successes in 2024, the show is finally back with a new chapter that looks even bigger, darker, and more action-packed than before.

The first season was praised by both fans and critics for bringing the classic X-Men characters back to the spotlight while telling emotional and exciting stories. Now, the latest trailer suggests that Season 2 will raise the stakes even higher.

According to the newly released footage from Marvel Studios, Apocalypse will be the main villain of the season. The powerful mutant appears throughout the trailer and is shown as a major threat capable of affecting multiple timelines and eras. The footage highlights his incredible power and hints at a large-scale conflict that could impact the entire world.

One of the biggest talking points from the trailer is the return of Gambit. Fans were left shocked during Season 1 when the beloved mutant sacrificed himself to save others. His death became one of the most emotional moments of the series and sparked endless discussions among viewers.

The new trailer strongly hints that Gambit’s story is not over. In one scene, Rogue is handed a playing card, a clear reference to Gambit. While Marvel has not officially confirmed exactly how he returns, many fans believe the character could come back as one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen. This idea comes from the comics, where Gambit briefly served as the Horseman known as Death.

The possibility of seeing Gambit return in a darker role has already generated excitement among longtime X-Men fans. His connection with Rogue was a major part of Season 1, and many viewers are eager to see how that relationship develops if he comes back under Apocalypse’s control.

The trailer also offers quick looks at several new characters who will join the series. Fans spotted Polaris alongside Bishop in one scene, while another moment appears to show Quentin Quire, also known as Kid Omega, sitting inside a prison cell. Havok can also be seen briefly with Jubilee, and Psylocke makes a short appearance near the end of the trailer.

These additions suggest that Season 2 will continue expanding the show’s roster and bring even more fan-favorite mutants into the story.

Another highlight from the footage is a large action sequence featuring X-Men characters from different eras. Several heroes appear together wearing costumes inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s famous comic book run. Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Beast can all be seen wearing the recognizable yellow-and-black uniforms that comic readers will instantly recognize.

The trailer makes it clear that Marvel is aiming for a larger and more ambitious season. Between Apocalypse’s arrival, Gambit’s possible return, and the introduction of several new mutants, there appears to be plenty for fans to look forward to.

With only a short wait remaining before the premiere, excitement for X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues to grow. The new footage promises major battles, emotional moments, and the return of characters that have been at the center of fan discussions for months. If the trailer is any indication, Marvel’s mutant saga is about to get even bigger.
