Toy Story 5 is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. After opening with the biggest debut of the year so far, the latest Pixar sequel is expected to stay comfortably in first place during its second weekend in theaters.

According to projections reported by Deadline, Toy Story 5 is expected to earn between $88 million and $96 million in North America this weekend. That would easily keep it ahead of the competition, including Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ newest superhero movie, Supergirl.

While Supergirl is one of the biggest new releases of the weekend, current estimates suggest it could open with around $47 million to $50 million. Some forecasts have placed it slightly higher, but it still appears unlikely to challenge Pixar’s animated hit for the top spot.

The strong performance of Toy Story 5 comes after a record-breaking opening weekend. The film has already earned more than $328 million worldwide in just a short time, making it one of the biggest releases of the year. Many analysts believe it is already on track to become another billion-dollar success for Pixar.

One reason for the film’s continued momentum is the positive reaction from audiences. Fans have praised the movie’s emotional story, beloved characters, and impressive animation. The Toy Story franchise has built a loyal fan base over the years, and it seems that viewers are once again connecting with Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang.

Strong word-of-mouth is especially important for family movies. Parents often wait to hear whether a film is worth taking their children to see before buying tickets. In the case of Toy Story 5, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, helping the movie attract audiences beyond its opening weekend.

Things are looking a little different for Supergirl. The film arrives with much lower expectations and has received mixed reviews from critics. At the time of writing, the movie holds a 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the lower-rated entries in the new DC Universe.

Many reviewers have praised star Milly Alcock’s performance as Kara Zor-El, but some feel the movie does not fully live up to its potential. Because of that, analysts believe the film may struggle to generate the same level of excitement as last year’s Superman, which became a major box office success.

Despite the competition, Supergirl could still find an audience, especially among comic book fans. However, it appears that Toy Story 5 remains the clear favorite heading into the weekend.

The box office race may become more challenging in the coming weeks. Several major releases are arriving soon, including Minions & Monsters and Disney’s live-action remake of Moana. Those films could eventually push Toy Story 5 out of the top spot.

For now, though, Pixar is enjoying another huge victory. With strong reviews, enthusiastic audiences, and massive ticket sales, Toy Story 5 continues to dominate theaters and looks set for another impressive weekend at the box office.
