Will Ferrell Swaps Comedy for Golf in New SKIMS Campaign That Has Fans Talking
Will Ferrell is adding a surprising new title to his long list of roles: underwear model. The actor and comedian has teamed up with Skims for a new campaign, but he is not appearing as himself. Instead, he is stepping into the shoes of his upcoming Netflix character, aging golf star Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins.
The campaign was revealed by Skims on Instagram, showing Ferrell fully embracing the fictional athlete’s personality. In the photos, the 58-year-old actor wears Skims men’s underwear, a white tank top, tube socks, his famous “Hawk” visor, and a puka shell necklace while posing like a confident veteran golfer who still believes he has what it takes.
The character comes from Ferrell’s upcoming Netflix comedy series ‘The Hawk,’ where he plays Lonnie Hawkins, a former professional golfer trying to prove he still belongs in the game. The new Skims campaign uses that same character and turns him into the face of a humorous fashion moment.
Skims shared several images of Ferrell in character with the caption, “@LonnieTheHawk knows he’s still got it.” The fictional golfer even has his own Instagram account, which has already gained thousands of followers.
The campaign also includes a video featuring Kim Kardashian, one of Skims’ co-founders, providing the narration. In the clip, Ferrell’s character appears on a golf course wearing only his Skims underwear while preparing for another round.
Kardashian jokes in the video, “His body says retire. His Skims say one more round,” while describing the brand’s products as being “built for men who still know they’ve got it.”
Ferrell and Kardashian first teased their collaboration weeks before the campaign officially launched. The two shared a funny Instagram post where Kardashian helped Lonnie Hawkins understand how to use social media and take the perfect selfie.
The post was written from the character’s perspective and included a playful message asking followers if they could see his post. The joke continued the personality of The Hawk, presenting him as an old-school athlete trying to understand modern internet culture.
The collaboration comes as Skims continues expanding its celebrity-filled campaigns. The brand has previously worked with major names including Usher, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, Cardi B, Hailey Bieber, and Charli XCX.
While Ferrell’s appearance is more comedy-focused, it also highlights the growing popularity of Skims’ men’s collection. The company has been bringing more male celebrities into its campaigns as it continues to grow beyond its original focus.
For Ferrell, the campaign adds another unexpected moment to a career filled with unusual characters and memorable performances. From comedy movies to sports-inspired roles, the actor has built a reputation for fully committing to every character he plays.
Fans will soon get to see more of Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins when ‘The Hawk’ arrives on Netflix on July 16. Until then, Ferrell’s unusual turn as a golf legend in his underwear is already getting plenty of attention online.
