‘Dutton Ranch’ Breaks Paramount+ Records as Biggest New Series Ever With Massive Viewership
The Dutton family continues to dominate television. The ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff series ‘Dutton Ranch’ has officially become the biggest freshman series in Paramount+ history, finishing its first season with massive viewership numbers.
The success comes as no surprise for a franchise that has already built a huge audience through ‘Yellowstone.’ ‘Dutton Ranch’ brings back fan-favorite characters Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, and Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, while expanding the world created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson.
According to TheWrap, which received the numbers exclusively from Paramount, the series averaged 13.3 million views per episode based on seven-day viewing data. The strong performance helped the show become the No. 1 title on Paramount+ worldwide every week since its debut in May.
The show’s popularity has also carried over to traditional television. During its run on Paramount Network, ‘Dutton Ranch’ became the No. 1 cable show among total viewers. The first season averaged 2 million viewers on the network alone, making it the biggest new cable series among total viewers in three years.
The series also performed strongly compared to other streaming hits. TheWrap reported that ‘Dutton Ranch’ appeared in Nielsen’s weekly top 10 streaming original series rankings after its launch, competing against popular shows from platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV.

One of the biggest moments came after the release of Episode 6. For the week of June 8, the series reached No. 3 among streaming originals, collecting 746 million minutes viewed on Paramount+. It only ranked behind Peacock’s ‘Love Island USA’ and Netflix’s ‘Sweet Magnolias.’
The show’s debut was already a major success before the full season arrived. Its premiere episode attracted 12.9 million global views during its first week, making it the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history.
‘Dutton Ranch’ is also continuing the strong run of Taylor Sheridan projects on Paramount+. Other shows connected to Sheridan have also delivered major numbers for the platform, including ‘The Madison,’ which launched with 8 million views, and ‘Landman,’ which became Paramount+’s biggest show at the time with episodes averaging 14.9 million views during their first week.
The success of ‘Dutton Ranch’ has already led to more stories from the Dutton universe. Paramount+ renewed the series for a second season, allowing the story of Beth and Rip to continue after its record-breaking first year.
