The next chapter in The Conjuring Universe is officially moving forward, and fans now know who will play the younger versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

As production begins on The Conjuring: First Communion, the first major casting details for the upcoming horror prequel have finally been revealed.

According to an exclusive report from Dread Central, Garrett Wareing has been cast as a young Ed Warren, while Amanda Fix will play a young Lorraine Warren. The film will take audiences back to the early years of the famous paranormal investigators, long before the events seen throughout the main Conjuring movies.

Wareing is best known for his roles in The Long Walk and Manifest, while Fix has appeared in Orphan Black: Echoes and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Their casting marks the first official look at the new generation of actors joining one of horror’s biggest franchises.

At the moment, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have not confirmed whether Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will return as the older versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren. The pair have played the famous paranormal investigators since the original The Conjuring premiered in 2013 and have become the faces of the franchise over the past decade. It remains unknown if they will make an appearance in the prequel.

Story details for The Conjuring: First Communion are still being kept secret. The film will be directed by Rodrigue Huart from a screenplay written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Aside from the title and the new cast, very little has been revealed about what the movie will explore or which supernatural case could be at the center of the story.

Even without plot details, the project has already generated excitement because it expands a franchise that has continued to grow for more than ten years. What started with The Conjuring in 2013 has become one of the most successful horror universes ever created.

The series now includes The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Conjuring 2, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona, Annabelle Comes Home, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II, and The Conjuring: Last Rites. Most of these films are connected through the Warrens or the supernatural cases they investigated, while others explore different corners of the same shared universe.

With The Conjuring: First Communion joining the lineup, the franchise will continue to grow even larger. The new movie is expected to explore an earlier period in Ed and Lorraine Warren’s lives, giving fans a chance to see how their partnership began before they became famous demonologists.

The Conjuring Universe also has another project on the way. Warner Bros. has already scheduled The Revenge of La Llorona, a sequel to The Curse of La Llorona, for release on April 9, 2027. That means horror fans will get two films from the shared universe in the same year.

The Conjuring: First Communion is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 10, 2027. With filming now underway and its lead actors officially announced, the movie has taken its biggest step forward yet. More casting news and story details are expected to be revealed as production continues over the coming months.
