Netflix is about to add a new K-drama to its lineup that mixes ghosts, murder investigations, and a slow burn romance into one package. ‘Spooky in Love’ stars Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong in tvN’s new occult rom-com, and the buzz around it has been building for months.

For fans who love their romance with a side of the supernatural, this one looks like it was built specifically for that crowd. Below is everything currently known about release timing, the cast, and what the story is actually about.

‘Spooky in Love’ Release Date

‘Spooky in Love’ premieres July 18, 2026 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN, airing every Saturday and Sunday through August 23. It streams globally on Netflix the same day it airs in Korea, and on TVING for domestic viewers, so there is no waiting period for international audiences hoping to catch it as it airs.

The series has one season with 12 episodes, and each episode runs about 70 minutes. That gives ‘Spooky in Love’ a full summer run without dragging things out unnecessarily.

Production on the series moved quickly once casting locked in. By November 2025 the casting was completed and filming was already underway, with Ong Seong-wu set to begin filming on November 27.

Park and Yang’s appearances were officially confirmed that same month, and principal photography began in November 2025, with Eun-bin and Se-jong seen filming in various locations in Singapore, including Lau Pa Sat and Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade.

‘Spooky in Love’ Cast Details

The show is directed by Lee Min-soo and stars Park Eun-bin, Yang Se-jong, and Ong Seong-wu. Park Eun-bin plays the female lead, and she is one of the most popular actresses in South Korea right now, having starred in several beloved K-dramas released on Netflix, including ‘Castaway Diva’, ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, and ‘The King’s Affection’.

Her co-star brings his own following as well. Yang Se-jong rose to prominence with his dual role in the thriller ‘Duel’ in 2017 and the romance series ‘Temperature of Love’ the same year. He also starred in the fantasy romance ‘Still 17’ in 2018, made appearances in ‘Dr Romantic’, and later took on a lead role in the Netflix series ‘Doona’ in 2023, with his most recent project being the 2025 drama ‘Low Life’.

Rounding out the main trio is Ong Seong-wu, whose role was announced a bit later in the process. In April 2026, the production team confirmed Ong’s casting as Kang Min-hwan, a new character created specifically for the series. This suggests the show is expanding beyond a simple two person love triangle setup and giving the source material some fresh dimensions.

‘Spooky in Love’ Plot Explained

The premise leans hard into its occult angle while keeping a romantic core. Cheon Yeo-ri, played by Park Eun-bin, is the heiress of one of Korea’s top conglomerates and CEO of a luxury hotel, beautiful, wealthy, and seemingly perfect, but her secret is that she sees ghosts, haunted every night by the restless spirits of people who died unjustly. Because anyone who touches her ends up seeing ghosts too, she has spent her life keeping people at a distance.

Her opposite is just as complicated in his own way. Ma Gang-uk, played by Yang Se-jong, is an ace prosecutor with sharp instincts and a strong sense of justice, tirelessly working to solve unsolved murder cases, and he is also, inconveniently, terrified of ghosts. That fear becomes a running source of comedic tension once the two characters are forced together.

The overall investigative structure is what separates this from a standard rom-com. The show is described as an investigative occult romance drama about a hotel heiress who can see ghosts and a passionate prosecutor who team up in a chaotic partnership, and the two team up to solve mysterious cases together. It is easy to see why fans of genre blending shows are already circling this one on their calendars.

Is ‘Spooky in Love’ Based on a Movie?

Longtime K-drama watchers may already recognize the bones of this story. ‘Spooky in Love’ is a remake of the 2011 hit film ‘Spellbound’, which starred Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki. The original film became a well regarded entry in Korean romantic comedy circles, and adapting it for a longer episodic format gives the writers room to dig deeper into the mystery elements that the film only had time to touch on.

That connection to a proven property seems to be part of the excitement building around the series. ‘Spooky in Love’ brings together a well liked source film, a genre combination that isn’t overdone in current K-drama releases, and three leads who each carry strong existing followings from previous Netflix titles. The occult investigation structure gives it room to function as more than a straight romance, which could make it stand out among the usual summer slate of releases.

With a well known source film, a cast that already has a built in Netflix fanbase, and a premise that mixes crime solving with the supernatural, ‘Spooky in Love’ has plenty going for it heading into its July premiere. Are you more excited for the ghostly mystery side of ‘Spooky in Love’ or the slow burn romance between Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Gang-uk?
