Fans Are Leaking Footage from Another Canceled Warner Bros. Movie, and This Time It’s Scooby-Doo’s Turn
Warner Bros.’ habit of shelving finished animated films for tax purposes has already produced one genuine underdog success story this year. ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ the hybrid live-action and animated film that sat completely finished for three years after being scrapped in 2023, finally reached theaters after a sustained public campaign convinced the studio to sell off the distribution rights instead of quietly writing the movie off.
That win has clearly emboldened fans still fighting for other shelved Warner Bros. projects to keep pushing. Alongside the renewed push to save ‘Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical,’ supporters of another canceled film, ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt,’ have started sharing leaked footage from the movie directly, betting that public pressure and viral attention might be enough to finally force the studio’s hand.
One fan account resurfaced a clip from the film this week specifically because of fears it could be taken down, tagging the post with the hashtags SaveScoobHolidayHaunt and ReleaseScoobHolidayHaunt. The short clip shows a scene set outside a cabin, underscoring just how far along the animation and production work actually got before Warner Bros. pulled the plug.
That’s not the first time footage from the film has leaked either. Unofficial clips reportedly first surfaced online in July 2025, giving fans a glimpse of a nearly finished project that has otherwise remained locked away, according to reporting compiled by Grokipedia. Those earlier leaks fueled speculation about potential archival deals or alternative distribution paths, though nothing official from Warner Bros. Discovery ever followed.
‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ was originally set to premiere on HBO Max in December 2022 as a prequel to 2020’s ‘Scoob!,’ following a young Mystery Incorporated gang as they investigate a haunted holiday resort owned by Fred’s uncle. The film was shelved that August alongside the DC film ‘Batgirl’ and, later, ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ all part of the same cost-cutting push under Warner Bros. Discovery’s new leadership at the time.
Director Michael Kurinsky has spoken candidly about just how close to completion the film actually was when it got canceled. He said the production had a few hundred shots left to finish, light, render, and approve when the news broke, estimating the film was roughly 95 percent complete at the time.
Kurinsky has also been direct about the emotional toll of watching years of work get shelved. He described the experience as bittersweet, saying it was disappointing to realize so many personal creative goals only to then not have the finished film actually reach audiences.
Unlike ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ though, ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ hasn’t found a distributor willing to take on the tangled tax and rights situation that comes with reviving a shelved project. Industry observers have noted the film’s status remains tied to the original write-off, and unwinding that arrangement could require Warner Bros. Discovery to repay the financial benefits it originally claimed.
For now, fans sharing leaked clips and reviving old hashtags represent the clearest signal that the ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ campaign isn’t going away anytime soon, especially with ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ proving that sustained pressure can eventually move a major studio. Whether Warner Bros. treats that outcome as a repeatable playbook or a one-time exception remains to be seen.
Do you think Scoob! Holiday Haunt will ever get an official release?
