‘Lioness’ Star James Jordan Confirms ‘Landman’ Season 3 Production Is Just Weeks Away

Taylor Sheridan’s television empire has become one of the most reliable engines in the streaming business, with shows like ‘Yellowstone’, ‘1883’ and ‘Landman‘ feeding off each other’s success and sharing a rotating cast of familiar faces. Few actors embody that overlap better than James Jordan, who’s become something of a constant presence across Sheridan’s growing catalogue over the past decade.

Jordan currently juggles two roles simultaneously, playing Dale Bradley on ‘Landman’ and Two Cups on ‘Special Ops: Lioness’, both airing under the Paramount+ banner. With ‘Lioness’ now working through the back half of its third season, Jordan has started shifting his focus toward the next chapter of his other Sheridan project, one fans have been anxiously awaiting an update on for months.

That update finally arrived, with Jordan confirming that production on ‘Landman’ Season 3 is set to begin in the very near future. “We’re about to start Landman Season 3,” he said. “So, we’re getting those scripts. We’re about to get to work, and we’re going to try to have that out as soon as we can,” according to comments given to TV Insider.

That confirmation caps off months of shifting timelines for the show’s third season. Production was originally expected to begin as early as May, then pushed to an August start, before ultimately settling into the current September window that Jordan and other cast members have now confirmed across multiple recent interviews. The show is expected to film through the first quarter of 2027, according to prior reporting on the schedule.

Jordan has indicated he expects much of the original ensemble to return for the new season, with Billy Bob Thornton continuing to lead the cast as oil company fixer Tommy Norris. Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Paulina Chávez, and Kayla Wallace are also expected back in their respective roles, continuing the show’s tangled web of oil industry drama and West Texas grit that helped make the series a breakout hit for Paramount+.

Beyond the cast returning intact, Jordan has expressed confidence that his own character, Dale, isn’t going anywhere despite the show’s history of killing off Sheridan regulars in other projects. He’s previously noted that his characters in shows like ‘1883’, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and ‘Wind River’ have all met brutal ends, making Dale’s continued survival through two seasons of ‘Landman’ something of an outlier in his working relationship with Sheridan.

Fans hoping for a quick turnaround once filming wraps shouldn’t necessarily expect a rapid release, though. With the extended production window pushing well into next year, previous reporting has suggested the earliest realistic release window for new episodes would fall sometime in the second half of 2027, assuming post-production stays on schedule. Director Stephen Kay has previously indicated the team plans to edit while filming continues, a strategy meant to help shorten the wait once cameras stop rolling.

For now, fans will have to make do with the ongoing run of ‘Lioness’ Season 3 while ‘Landman’ gears back up behind the scenes. With Jordan and the rest of the cast expressing genuine enthusiasm about diving back into Sheridan’s West Texas oil world, anticipation for the next chapter shows no signs of slowing down as the September start date approaches.
