Taylor Sheridan’s Texas oil drama has become one of Paramount+’s biggest success stories, and now fans are trying to figure out exactly when ‘Landman‘ will return for another round. Season 2 blew past its predecessor’s numbers, and Paramount wasted little time locking in a third chapter.

But a renewal announcement is not the same as a release date, and the gap between those two things is exactly what has fans of ‘Landman’ anxiously refreshing their search bars.

‘Landman’ Season 3 Renewal News

Paramount+ officially renewed ‘Landman’ for a third season on December 5, 2025, while Season 2 was still airing new episodes weekly.

The renewal came on the heels of a monster premiere, with Paramount reporting more than 9.2 million global streaming views for ‘Landman’ Season 2 within its first two days, a jump the company said was 262 percent higher than the Season 1 premiere.

That kind of growth made the decision fairly straightforward for the streamer, especially since ‘Landman’ had already established itself as the most watched original series in Paramount+ history following its Season 1 debut, which pulled in more than 35 million global viewers.

Despite the quick green light, Paramount has not published a Season 3 premiere date, an episode count, a trailer, or even a full cast announcement, and the platform’s own official guide still lists the date as unannounced.

Paramount+ Release Schedule Shift

Much of the delay chatter stems from how tightly Sheridan’s production team has run this show in the past.

Season 1 premiered November 17, 2024, and Season 2 followed almost exactly a year later on November 16, 2025, with the two premieres separated by just 364 days, an unusually consistent pattern for a modern streaming drama.

That consistency led many to expect Season 3 might follow the same November timing, but reports now suggest the production timetable has shifted from an anticipated spring start to a later start around August, which would push a same year November debut into a much tighter window than before.

It is worth noting that Paramount has not officially labeled this a delay in any press statement, and the earlier spring production timeline was more of a fan and outlet expectation than a studio confirmed schedule to begin with.

‘Landman’ Season 2 Cast and Story Recap

Season 2 picked up with Billy Bob Thornton back as Tommy Norris, the M-Tex Oil fixer trying to keep his company and his family from falling apart at the same time.

Demi Moore’s role expanded significantly this season as Cami Miller, who stepped into ownership of the company following her husband’s death in Season 1, while Jon Hamm did not return since his character Monty was written off after a fatal heart attack.

The season also welcomed Sam Elliott as T.L., Tommy’s father, alongside returning players Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph, plus new series regular Stefania Spampinato.

Season 2 ran for 10 episodes on a weekly Sunday schedule from November 16 through its finale on January 18, giving fans a full holiday season of oilfield drama, cartel tension, and family chaos to chew through.

What ‘Landman’ Season 3 Timing Could Mean For Fans

If Sheridan’s team really did push the Season 3 shoot toward late August, that would leave a noticeably shorter runway before the type of November 16 or 17 weekend slot that has become something of a ‘Landman’ tradition.

Interestingly, Season 2 was reportedly still in production through August 2025 ahead of its November premiere, which suggests this show’s turnaround can be faster than many other prestige dramas manage.

Still, repeating that exact same sprint two seasons in a row is a tall order, and it is why some entertainment outlets now consider a November 2026 premiere unlikely, with 2027 looking like the more realistic landing spot for new episodes.

For now, fans eager for more of Tommy Norris navigating the volatile world of West Texas oil boomtowns will have to lean on Season 1 and Season 2 reruns while Paramount keeps the actual Season 3 details close to the vest.

Given how quickly ‘Landman’ has already reshaped Paramount+’s original programming lineup, do you think the extra wait for Season 3 will be worth it, or should Tommy Norris be back on our screens sooner rather than later?
