‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is About to Make History as Only the Second Film Ever to Hit $900 Million Domestically

Sony and Marvel’s latest wall-crawling blockbuster has spent its entire theatrical run rewriting the box office record book, and just when it seemed like the film might finally be settling into a more typical late-run pace, it found another gear entirely. Five weekends into release, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ continues posting numbers that industry trackers keep describing as historically unprecedented.

That momentum has been especially notable given how the film has performed even on ordinary weekdays, a stretch of the calendar where most blockbusters see their earnings drop off significantly. Rather than fading into a predictable decline, Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man outing has kept finding ways to outpace its own already staggering trajectory.

That trend continued into the final days of August, with the film grossing an amazing $1.9 million on its fifth Monday in release, marking just a 44.9% drop from the previous Monday’s total, according to figures shared by box office analyst Luiz Fernando. That performance pushed the film’s domestic cume to $893.7 million, now more than $88 million ahead of where ‘Avengers: Endgame’ stood at the same point in its own historic run, despite Brand New Day having only started roughly $3 million ahead of Endgame’s pace at the beginning.

With that trajectory holding, ‘Brand New Day’ is now positioned to cross $900 million at the domestic box office on Thursday, becoming just the second film in history to reach that milestone, following only 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ According to tracking data, Force Awakens took 50 days to cross that threshold, a record Brand New Day appears set to shatter by a significant margin.

The scale of what’s happening becomes even clearer when stacked against the broader all-time domestic chart. ‘Brand New Day’ has already surpassed ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $858.3 million lifetime total to claim the number two spot on the all-time North American chart, with only ‘The Force Awakens’ and its $936.6 million total standing between the Spider-Man sequel and the record.

Industry estimates now project ‘Brand New Day’ could ultimately land somewhere between $950 million and $960 million domestically, a range that would officially dethrone ‘The Force Awakens’ from a record it’s held for more than a decade. That kind of run would mark a genuinely historic achievement for a franchise that’s already broken numerous box office records throughout 2026.

The film’s international performance has been just as dominant, with ‘Brand New Day’ recently crossing $2 billion worldwide to become just the eighth film in cinema history to reach that mark. Its opening weekend alone delivered the biggest domestic debut ever recorded, and the film went on to post the highest-grossing first week in North American box office history.

With Labor Day weekend now approaching, industry watchers expect the extended holiday traffic to give the film’s box office trajectory another meaningful boost, potentially accelerating its climb toward both the $900 million domestic milestone and the all-time record still standing ahead of it. For a franchise that’s already redefined what a modern blockbuster run can look like, ‘Brand New Day’ shows no signs of slowing its historic march through the record books.
