Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren Team up to Save the World in New ‘One Last Shot’ Trailer, Release Date Revealed

Scott Adkins has spent years quietly building one of action cinema’s most dedicated cult followings, carving out a franchise built entirely around a genuinely inventive filmmaking gimmick that’s earned him respect among genre fans even when mainstream recognition has stayed just out of reach. That signature series is now bringing its story to a close with one final, star-studded installment.

The ‘One Shot’ franchise has always distinguished itself through its commitment to presenting each film as a single, seemingly unbroken continuous take, a technical achievement that’s made the low-budget action series feel genuinely distinctive within a crowded genre. With director James Nunn returning once again to complete the trilogy, the franchise is going out with arguably its biggest name yet attached.

That name is Dolph Lundgren, who joins Adkins for ‘One Last Shot,’ the third and final chapter in the series, arriving on DVD and digital September 22. A new trailer for the film has now debuted, giving fans their first proper look at Adkins reprising his role as Navy SEAL Jake Harris alongside the ‘Rocky IV’ star, who plays Harris’ commanding officer.

According to the film’s official synopsis, seasoned Navy SEAL Jake Harris is called back into action when the world is threatened by a disillusioned former comrade turned domestic terrorist, Elliot Carter, played by Steven Cree. With the Joint Chiefs of Staff held hostage in a nuclear bunker, Harris races against the clock to stop Carter before he can extract access to the country’s stockpile of nuclear weapons.

‘One Last Shot’ picks up directly following the events of 2024’s ‘One More Shot,’ continuing the series’ tradition of presenting each film’s action in one continuous shot. That approach traces back to 2021’s original ‘One Shot,’ which introduced Adkins as Jake Harris during a mission to retrieve a prisoner from a CIA black site before the base comes under attack.

Jamie Russell returns as writer for this third installment, having penned all three entries in the franchise, while Nunn continues his role as director across the entire trilogy. Adkins previously spoke about the series’ technical ambitions, expressing pride in what the team has managed to accomplish on a modest budget and voicing hope that the franchise would eventually earn more recognition from mainstream audiences.

Beyond Adkins, Lundgren, and Cree, the cast also includes Hannah Ware, rounding out a supporting ensemble that helps carry the film’s high-stakes, real-time tension. Filming for the project took place in west London, with Sky set to release the film in the UK and Ireland as a Sky Original, while Sony Pictures Home Entertainment handles distribution across the rest of the world.

The ‘One Shot’ series has steadily built its reputation since its 2021 debut, which originally starred Ryan Phillippe and Ashley Greene alongside Adkins before he took over as the franchise’s central lead. That evolution into Adkins-led territory has helped define the series’ identity as a genuine showcase for his action choreography and physical performance skills.

With ‘One Last Shot’ now positioned as the trilogy’s definitive conclusion, fans of the franchise’s unique continuous-shot format finally have a release date to look forward to. The film’s DVD and digital arrival on September 22 gives longtime followers of Adkins’ work one more chance to see Jake Harris in action, this time with an ’80s action legend fighting right alongside him.
