Feige explained that the production drew massive crowds from the start, recalling, “The very first week of production, and there were hundreds of people on the street, and they were all filming,” according to The Direct. He noted that the attention brought plenty of press coverage, but that the moment also happened to look spectacular on camera thanks to an elaborate stunt sequence.

That first week of filming, which took place in Glasgow, Scotland, featured an eye-catching sequence involving a tank driving through the street with a stuntman swinging above it on a rig. The chaos of the shoot, paired with the sheer number of onlookers capturing it on their phones, created an atmosphere Feige said genuinely caught the team off guard.

He described the emotional impact that moment had on the filmmakers themselves, saying it “invigorated all of us and Destin [Daniel Cretton]” as people spontaneously shouted their support for the hero. Feige recalled fans “literally coming out and saying, ‘We love you, Spider-Man,’ like at the end of the movie,” adding that it happened on the very first day of production, long before the film’s actual ending had even been shot.

That real-world enthusiasm, according to Feige, tapped into something bigger than just excitement over a movie shoot. He pointed to the thrill people clearly felt simply knowing that somewhere nearby, “there was a guy in a suit swinging, swinging through the streets,” a sentiment that mirrors exactly what the film’s climax attempts to capture on a larger scale.

The parallel between that real-life moment and the film’s actual ending is hard to ignore. ‘Brand New Day’ closes with Peter Parker, having been accidentally shot by Frank Castle during the film’s climactic battle, being helped out of the hospital by Castle as a crowd of adoring fans waits outside to celebrate him.

Given that the crowd reaction on day one of filming so closely echoes the emotional beats of that final scene, it’s easy to see why Feige singled it out as something worth sharing publicly.
