‘MobLand’ Renewed for Season 3 as Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan All Confirmed to Return

Paramount+ found itself with a genuine hit on its hands when ‘MobLand‘ first premiered, quickly becoming one of the streamer’s biggest original series launches. The Guy Ritchie-produced crime drama built its reputation on a stacked ensemble cast and a brutal, high-stakes take on London’s criminal underworld.

That early success led to a swift Season 2 renewal, but the show’s future beyond that became far murkier in the months since. Behind-the-scenes tension between star Tom Hardy and showrunner Jez Butterworth threatened to derail the franchise entirely, with reports circulating that Hardy might not return for a potential third season.

That uncertainty has now officially been put to rest. Paramount+ confirmed it has renewed ‘MobLand’ for Season 3, with Tom Hardy returning as the Harrigan family’s loyal fixer Harry Da Souza, alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren reprising their roles as crime family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, according to Deadline.

The path to this announcement wasn’t smooth. Reports first surfaced that friction between Hardy and Butterworth during Season 2 production had escalated to a point where the two could no longer work together, with Hardy’s chronic lateness to set reportedly among the points of contention.

That dispute nearly cost Hardy his role entirely, with Deadline previously reporting he was on his way out of the series. The situation eventually turned around following a resolution meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth, and executive producer David Glasser, paving the way for the actor’s return alongside continued support from co-star Helen Mirren on social media during the uncertainty.

Paramount+ made its stance on the matter clear in its official renewal announcement, stating plainly that “the Harrigans aren’t going anywhere,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, specifically naming Hardy’s fixer character as part of that commitment.

The Season 3 renewal arrives just weeks ahead of ‘MobLand’ Season 2’s premiere, which is set to debut on September 18 with 10 new episodes streaming weekly through November 20. In the upcoming season, the Harrigans struggle to present a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire, while Harry finds himself walking an increasingly dangerous tightrope as tensions within the family intensify.

Season 2’s supporting cast includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer, and Toby Jones, rounding out the ensemble surrounding the show’s three central stars.

‘MobLand’ previously logged Paramount+’s second-biggest launch ever for an original series, trailing only behind ‘Landman.’ That kind of viewership performance made an eventual renewal feel likely from the start, with a Season 3 writers’ room having already been up and running since May in anticipation of the show’s continued success.

Hardy, who also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Ritchie, Butterworth, and others, is believed to have signed on for a three-year contract from the beginning, which should make his continued involvement in Season 3 relatively straightforward moving forward. With the cast drama now resolved and a new season already confirmed, ‘MobLand’ appears positioned for a long run at Paramount+.
