Alan Ritchson's 'Reacher' Just Proved It's the Biggest Action Show on the Planet

Streaming success stories come and go, but few franchises have managed to stay consistently dominant the way Prime Video’s ‘Reacher‘ has since it first arrived. What started as a sleeper hit adaptation of Lee Child’s beloved novels has steadily transformed into one of the platform’s most reliable global performers.

That consistency has become the show’s calling card, with each new season somehow managing to outdo expectations rather than simply coast on the goodwill built by its predecessors. Alan Ritchson’s imposing take on the title character has only grown more popular with time, cementing him as one of streaming’s most bankable action leads.

Now, Season 4 has taken that momentum to another level entirely. The latest installment has claimed the number one spot on Prime Video’s global Top 10 chart, with the franchise as a whole having now spent more than 200 days on the streamer’s rankings since it first premiered.

Season 4 adapts Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in Child’s long-running series, and shifts the show’s usual small-town setting into a much bigger arena. The story follows Reacher after a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway spirals into a sprawling conspiracy involving intelligence agencies, terrorists, and powerful political interests across New York City and Washington, D.C.

That expanded scope has clearly resonated with both critics and audiences. The season currently holds a Certified Fresh 94 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside an 82 percent audience score, numbers that reflect some of the strongest overall reception the franchise has seen since its debut season.

Reviewers have specifically praised the season’s willingness to lean further into espionage and surveillance elements while still delivering the brutal, hand-to-hand combat that’s become the series’ signature. The new season also introduces fresh faces to the ensemble, including Christopher Marquette, Agnez Mo, Kevin Corrigan, Anggun, and Sydelle Noel, expanding the world without losing the show’s core identity.

Season 4 premiered on August 12 with its first three episodes before shifting into a weekly release pattern, a rollout strategy that’s clearly kept audiences engaged and returning week after week. That sustained engagement helped push the season to the top of Prime Video’s charts not just domestically, but across dozens of international markets as well.

The franchise’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down either. Prime Video has already renewed ‘Reacher’ for a fifth season, which is currently in production and expected to arrive sometime in 2027, giving fans plenty to look forward to well beyond this current run.

There’s also more expansion on the horizon within the same universe. A spinoff series titled ‘Neagley’, centered on Maria Sten’s fan-favorite character investigating the suspicious death of someone from her past, is set to premiere on September 16, the same day Season 4 wraps up its own story.

For a franchise built on a fairly simple premise, watching an enormous, extremely capable drifter dispense justice wherever he goes, ‘Reacher’ continues to prove that execution matters far more than reinvention. Between critical acclaim, record-setting chart performance, and now a growing universe of spinoffs, Ritchson’s take on Jack Reacher has firmly established itself as appointment streaming on a global scale.

With Season 5 already in the works and ‘Neagley’ poised to expand the franchise even further, there’s little reason to expect this action juggernaut to lose its grip on the charts anytime soon.
