‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 First Look Reveals Two Terrifying New Killers Stalking New York City

Michael C. Hall’s serial killer saga has never been shy about giving Dexter Morgan a genuinely intimidating rogues’ gallery to hunt, and Season 2 of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ is doubling down on that formula. With Dexter now operating in New York rather than his familiar Miami stomping grounds, the show’s writers have clearly leaned into the city’s scale to justify introducing not one but two entirely new killers for him to track.

That expanded hunting ground has become central to the season’s premise, positioning Dexter between two very different kinds of predators. According to the official logline, Dexter finds himself “caught between two killers, one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated,” all while contending with what the show describes as his greatest enemy yet: a midlife crisis.

New first-look images have now given fans their clearest glimpse yet at both new antagonists, alongside confirmation of exactly how each character operates. Gabriel Luna plays Ray Ballard, a serial killer who goes by the moniker The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, a character known for breaking into people’s homes and subtly rearranging their belongings to unsettle them psychologically before ultimately killing them.

The second new threat comes from Dan Stevens, who plays The Five Borough Killer, a character explicitly designed to evoke the still-unsolved Zodiac Killer case. According to Paramount+’s official character breakdown, Stevens’ character taunts police with phone calls threatening to murder innocent citizens across each of New York’s boroughs, then follows through on those threats to terrorize the entire city.

Rounding out the season’s central villains is Brian Cox as Don Framt, better known as The New York Ripper, a retired killer first teased in Season 1’s finale when Dexter discovered a file on him inside the vault of billionaire serial-killer enthusiast Leon Prater. Though Framt no longer actively kills, he continues psychologically tormenting survivors of his past crimes, giving Cox’s character a very different energy from the season’s more actively dangerous new threats.

Luna’s casting adds another notable genre credit to an already busy year for the actor, who recently starred in Peacock’s “Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy” and is set to return for Season 3 of HBO’s “The Last of Us.” Stevens, meanwhile, brings his own genre pedigree to the role after recent turns in projects like “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”

Beyond the new killers, the first-look photos also confirm the season’s returning cast, including Uma Thurman reprising her role as Charley, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, and James Remar returning as Dexter’s late father, Harry. Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson round out the new series regulars as Captain Mixon and his daughter Fiona, while Desmond Harrington has been promoted to series regular after his brief Season 1 appearance as Lieutenant Joey Quinn.

Krysten Ritter is also confirmed to return in a guest role as Mia LaPierre, also known as Lady Vengeance, a character whose Season 1 fate makes her Season 2 appearance likely to arrive through a vision, flashback, or some other unconventional storytelling device rather than a straightforward continuation.

With three distinct killers now confirmed across the season’s roster and Dexter’s own personal life unraveling under the weight of a midlife crisis, ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 looks poised to push its title character further than ever before, both as a hunter and as a man increasingly unsure of his place in this new city.
