Breakout stardom has a way of moving fast in Hollywood, and few 2026 success stories illustrate that better than Inde Navarrette’s rapid rise. After years of steady television work, the actress has spent this year transforming into one of the industry’s most talked-about new names, culminating in a milestone that few young stars get to experience so soon.

That milestone is a hosting debut on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ with NBC confirming Navarrette will take the Studio 8H stage for the show’s Halloween episode. She’ll be joined by Gracie Abrams as musical guest, marking Abrams’ second appearance on the show following her first performance back in December 2024.

The October 31 episode caps off a strong opening stretch for ‘SNL’ Season 52, which also includes New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson hosting the September 26 premiere alongside musical guest KATSEYE, Dakota Johnson returning for her third hosting stint on October 3 with Turnstile performing, and Shane Gillis making his third hosting appearance on October 10 alongside musical guest Rosalía.

‘Obsession’ Star Inde Navarrette Lands Her Wildest Role Yet in Apple’s Sci-Fi Thriller ‘The Waffle House Index’

Navarrette’s path to ‘SNL’ traces directly back to her performance as Nikki Freeman in the horror film ‘Obsession,’ which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 before hitting U.S. theaters through Focus Features this past May. The film has since surpassed $500,000,000 worldwide, turning Navarrette into one of the year’s most talked-about new faces almost overnight.

That success has already translated into major upcoming projects. Navarrette is set to play Rogue in the forthcoming ‘X-Men’ film, and she’ll also star in the Apple Studios sci-fi thriller ‘The Waffle House Index,’ giving her an unusually stacked slate for someone stepping into her first-ever SNL hosting role.

Before ‘Obsession’ catapulted her into the spotlight, Navarrette had already built a solid television résumé, including roles in Netflix’s ‘Superman & Lois’ before departing in 2023 amid budget cuts, and a supporting turn in the 2025 action film ‘Trap House.’

This season’s opening lineup arrives on the heels of a historic run for ‘SNL,’ which extended its record as the most Emmy-nominated show in television history with 360 total nominations and 114 wins following its 51st season. That premiere, featuring Brunson fresh off leading the Knicks to their first championship in 53 years and being named 2026 NBA Finals MVP, marks the earliest season premiere the show has had in 14 years.

The lineup also reflects some behind-the-scenes turnover, with longtime cast member Chloe Fineman departing after seven seasons and Martin Herlihy exiting following his work both on-screen with Please Don’t Destroy and in the writers room during Season 51.

Given Navarrette’s breakout role came in a horror film, landing the Halloween episode adds a layer of thematic symmetry to her hosting debut. Abrams, meanwhile, arrives fresh off releasing her third studio album, ‘Daughter From Hell,’ in July, and is currently supporting the project on her Look at My Life Tour.

With additional cast and host announcements still expected ahead of the September 26 premiere, this opening stretch of Season 52 already signals a fall lineup built around major crossover moments between sports, music, and film.
