‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Just Joined One of the Rarest Clubs in Box Office History
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has spent the better part of a decade building toward moments like this one. ‘No Way Home’ already proved back in 2021 that a Spider-Man film could crack the $1.9 billion mark globally, but ‘Brand New Day’ has spent its entire theatrical run threatening to leave that benchmark far behind.
The film opened in July with a record-setting debut and then held onto the top spot at the domestic box office for six consecutive weekends, a run matched by only a handful of releases in recent memory. That kind of sustained dominance rarely translates into the same level of staying power internationally, where box office legs tend to shorten considerably once a film moves past its opening month.
‘Brand New Day’ hasn’t followed that pattern. The film has now officially become just the fifth Hollywood film in history to cross $1.5 billion at the international box office alone, a threshold reached by only a handful of films ever. That milestone came during its seventh overseas weekend, where it added $19 million despite a 27.2% drop from the previous frame, pushing its total international haul to $1.52 billion across 66 markets.
#SpidermanBrandNewDay becomes only 5th Hollywood film to ever cross the 1.5B mark overseas, as it gets closer & closer to the 2.5B mark at Global #BoxOffice!

STRONG 19M 7th weekend overseas for #BrandNewDay , just a -27.2% drop (vs #NoWayHome’s 21.1M, -23.8%, #Endgame’s 4.5M,… pic.twitter.com/JhvbR1KwMV
That drop-off actually compares favorably to how other major franchise entries performed at the same point in their own runs. ‘No Way Home’ saw a steeper 23.8% decline on its seventh international weekend while grossing $21.1 million, and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ fell by a much sharper 47.8% while taking in just $4.5 million during the equivalent frame, making ‘Brand New Day’s’ current hold genuinely one of the stronger showings among recent Marvel tentpoles at this stage of release.
Combined with its domestic total of $935.2 million, against a net production budget of $225 million before marketing costs, the film’s worldwide gross now sits at approximately $2.45 billion. That already places it well ahead of where both ‘No Way Home’ and ‘Endgame’ stood at the same point in their theatrical runs, with ‘No Way Home’ sitting at $1.74 billion and ‘Endgame’ at $2.73 billion globally at the comparable weekend.
Given that steady international performance, the film is currently tracking to finish its original theatrical run somewhere between $2.5 billion and $2.6 billion worldwide, a target that would place it firmly among the highest-grossing releases in film history regardless of genre or studio, though it will fall short of ‘Endgame’s’ eventual $2.8 billion lifetime total.

Reaching the $1.5 billion overseas threshold puts the film in genuinely rare company, joining a shortlist of only four other Hollywood releases to ever clear that specific international benchmark. For a franchise that’s spent over two decades as a reliable box office performer without necessarily topping the absolute highest tiers of all-time earnings, this level of sustained global dominance marks a genuine turning point for the character on the big screen.
With momentum still holding steady seven weekends into its run, ‘Brand New Day’ shows few signs of slowing its climb toward the $2.6 billion mark anytime soon. Given how consistently the film has outperformed typical late-run drop-off patterns throughout its release, there’s a real possibility its final total climbs even higher than current projections suggest.
The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn't forgotten them.

The film has already secured its place as the highest-grossing solo superhero movie of all time and currently ranks as the third-highest-grossing release in box office history overall, trailing only ‘Avatar’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ For a fourth standalone entry in a character’s solo franchise, arriving after three previous films and countless team-up appearances across the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, sustaining this level of global box office strength this deep into a theatrical run speaks to just how much audience appetite still exists for Holland’s take on the character.
