The First Official Doctor Doom Funko Pop for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Here, and It’s Giving Away Major Costume Details

Marvel Studios has spent months carefully building anticipation for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and much of that campaign has leaned on merchandise to fill in details the studio hasn’t officially confirmed through trailers alone. With the film’s central villain still shrouded in mystery on screen, toy and collectible reveals have quietly become one of the most reliable ways fans are piecing together what to expect.

That mystery centers entirely on Robert Downey Jr.’s shocking return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not as Tony Stark, but as the villainous Victor von Doom. The casting reveal stunned audiences at San Diego Comic-Con, marking a dramatic shift for an actor whose Iron Man died in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ and setting up Doom as the central antagonist of both ‘Doomsday’ and its 2027 follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

A new official Funko Pop figure has now given fans their clearest look yet at how that character will appear on screen. The figure depicts Doctor Doom in a hooded, heavily armored design, complete with his signature metal mask and gauntlets, offering fans a stylized but unmistakably comics-inspired take on Downey’s version of the character.

This latest reveal fits into a much larger wave of official ‘Doomsday’ merchandise that has been steadily rolling out over the past several months. Funko Pop figures tied to the film first appeared as preorder listings through collectible retailer 1001 Hobbies back in June, with a confirmed lineup including Doctor Doom, Thor, Mr. Fantastic, Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Shang-Chi, Namor and Yelena Belova, all shipping ahead of a November release window roughly a month before the film’s theatrical debut.

Doctor Doom’s exact on-screen appearance has continued to shift across different merchandise reveals, suggesting the character may wear more than one costume throughout the film. Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles previously revealed a separate 1:6-scale Doctor Doom figure priced at $285, followed by a second version depicting an alternate look called Victor von Doom, featuring a muted green tunic, hood and cloak rather than the more heavily armored suit shown in the earlier release.

That kind of costume variation across collectible lines has become a genuine source of speculation among fans, especially since Marvel has yet to give Downey’s Doom a full public reveal in an actual trailer. Until that happens, these staggered merchandise drops are effectively doing the early wardrobe reveal work that a traditional marketing rollout would normally handle.

Beyond the villain himself, the broader Funko wave has offered its own hints about the film’s overall scope. The inclusion of characters like Cyclops and Magneto signals direct X-Men involvement in the story’s multiversal conflict, while Namor and Shang-Chi suggest a wider MCU roster playing meaningful roles rather than simple background cameos. Marvel Studios has clearly positioned Downey Jr.’s Doom at the center of the film’s marketing and merchandise campaign, reinforcing just how pivotal his character is meant to be within the story’s larger multiversal stakes.

It’s worth noting that not every piece of Doctor Doom merchandise circulating online has turned out to be legitimate. A separate leaked image claiming to show early Funko Pop designs surfaced back in January, only to be confirmed as fake by Funko itself through the reliable tracking account DisTrackers. The more recent listings, by contrast, carry the credibility of an official retail source rather than unverified social media leaks.

With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to hit theaters on December 18, and the film bringing together the Avengers, Wakandans, the Fantastic Four and the original X-Men in a converging conflict against Doom, these merchandise reveals are likely to keep offering fans small pieces of the puzzle in the months ahead. Given how deliberately Marvel appears to be timing each drop, it seems clear the studio wants Doctor Doom’s presence felt well before audiences ever see him properly unmasked on the big screen.
