‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Finally Has a Digital Release Date

Blockbuster theatrical windows have stretched longer and longer in recent years, with studios increasingly willing to let a hit run in theaters as long as audiences keep showing up. Few films this year have tested that patience quite like Tom Holland’s latest outing as Peter Parker.

Since debuting this past summer, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ has spent months rewriting box office history, setting records that took other franchises years to establish. That kind of theatrical dominance has made its eventual home release something fans have been anxiously anticipating.

That wait is reportedly almost over, as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to arrive on digital platforms October 6, just over two months after its theatrical debut. The milestone comes as the film has grossed nearly $2.5 billion worldwide against a $225 million production budget, cementing its place as one of the year’s biggest financial success stories.

That budget itself carries significant weight within the franchise’s history, as the $225 million price tag makes ‘Brand New Day’ the second-highest-budgeted Spider-Man movie ever made. It trails only 2007’s ‘Spider-Man 3,’ which held that record for nearly two decades with its $258 million budget, edging out prior high-spenders like ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’

That kind of investment paid off almost immediately, as the film opened to $355 million domestically, the second-biggest launch in box office history behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ From there, ‘Brand New Day’ continued shattering records, eventually becoming the fastest movie ever to cross the $700 million mark domestically and the second-fastest film ever to reach $1 billion globally.

The film’s momentum didn’t stop at earlier milestones either, eventually surpassing ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ to become the highest-grossing film in domestic box office history. That achievement, paired with strong critical and audience reception, including a 98 audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an A CinemaScore, helped fuel one of the biggest theatrical runs of Tom Holland’s entire Spider-Man tenure.

Following its digital debut, physical media collectors won’t have to wait too much longer either, with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment targeting November 17 for the film’s release across 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. That release is expected to include multiple premium packages, including a limited-edition SteelBook bundle and a collector’s edition featuring a custom comic book and movie relic card.

Beyond digital and physical formats, fans hoping to catch ‘Brand New Day’ on a streaming platform will likely need to wait considerably longer, given Sony’s typical pattern of reserving Netflix as the eventual exclusive streaming home for its Spider-Man films after their theatrical and premium on-demand windows close out. Based on how previous entries in the franchise have rolled out, that streaming arrival could still be several months away even after the digital release.

Given how long this particular theatrical run has stretched compared to Holland’s earlier Spider-Man films, this home release arrives with an unusually long gap between theaters and digital shelves. That extended window reflects just how much confidence Sony had in the film’s continued box office potential throughout its run.

With ‘Brand New Day’ now approaching its home release, audiences will finally get the chance to revisit Peter Parker’s latest chapter outside of a crowded theater, whenever their preferred format becomes available. Given the film’s record-breaking theatrical performance, it’s a safe bet that plenty of fans will be lining up for a rewatch the moment it arrives.
