‘Griselda’ Star Sofía Vergara (54) Puts Her Famous Curves on Display With Butt-Lifting Jeans Under $30
Celebrity fashion lines come and go, but few have found a niche as quickly as Sofía Vergara’s collaboration with Walmart. The ‘Modern Family’ star launched her jeans-focused line in 2019, and denim has been the backbone of the brand ever since. The idea was simple: stylish, well-fitting pieces at prices most shoppers can afford.
That first launch was a big one. It debuted on Walmart.com as Sofía Jeans by Sofía Vergara, a nearly 100-piece collection with jeans, denim jackets, tops and graphic tees, all priced at $40 or under. The styles reportedly sold out within weeks and built a waitlist of more than 5,000 people.
Now Sofía Vergara’s Walmart denim collection is back in the spotlight with a fall refresh. The Hollywood Reporter says the actress and entrepreneur is putting denim at the center of her latest push, with a lineup focused on curve-conscious jeans. Prices stay under $30 for several styles, and butt-lifting jeans are on sale for $28.
The pitch is aimed squarely at a familiar problem: finding jeans that fit curves without leaving a gap at the waist. The fall lineup spans different silhouettes and washes. The standout is a butt-lifting style with a contoured fit through the waist, hips and rear.
The collection also includes denim jackets, and returning bestselling denim styles run from $24 to $36. The emphasis on fit isn’t a surprise, since the line has built much of its identity around curve-conscious clothing at mass-market prices. It also plays into the collection’s affordable positioning, as premium denim can easily top $200.
Customer numbers back up the buzz. According to the report, the butt-lifting style has racked up more than 7,000 reviews on Walmart, with 70 percent of customers giving it a full five-star rating. That kind of feedback gives the new push serious shopper backing.
Walmart’s own listings show how popular the denim range is. The Melisa flare high-rise jeans are listed at $25 with more than 7,400 reviews. The Margot wide-leg cargo jeans with a belt are listed at $28, while a low-rise flare style is listed at $24.
Vergara’s approach has been consistent since the beginning. In a 2019 interview with WWD, she said she enjoys creating clothes that look good and are well made yet affordable. She compared the idea to designer jeans that can cost hundreds of dollars, saying she wanted to find a way to deliver a similar effect for about $29.
Each denim style in that first collection was named after a family member or friend. The collection also leaned on evil eye imagery, from graphics on T-shirts to the studs and back label on the denim. That personal touch helped the line stand out from other celebrity partnerships at mass retailers.
The brand has grown well beyond denim. Last year’s spring launch added chic cardigans, floral dresses and everyday bodysuits alongside jeans, with prices starting at $16. Vergara said at the time that she wanted to encourage shoppers to feel more confident when trying new styles.
Denim is still the centerpiece, though. For fall and winter, jeans are clearly getting top billing, and the new collection keeps the focus on comfortable, flattering fits. It’s a reminder that a simple, practical product can build a loyal following when it works.
Celebrity-branded fashion at mass retailers can be hit or miss, but Vergara’s line has lasted for years because it sticks to a clear formula. The clothes are easy to wear, the prices stay low, and the marketing speaks directly to real fit frustrations. That consistency is likely why customers keep coming back.
With more than 7,000 reviews on the standout style and a fall lineup that keeps prices in check, the latest release looks like another safe bet for Walmart. Whether it sells out like the 2019 launch remains to be seen.
