Alex Consani Joins the Witches of ‘American Horror Story’ and the Internet Is Spellbound

Alex Consani is officially part of the ‘American Horror Story‘ universe, and the casting is one of the most talked about additions to the franchise’s long awaited return. The model makes her debut in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology as Morwenna the witch. It is a fitting leap for someone who became the first transgender person to win the Fashion Award for Model of the Year in December 2024.

For anyone wondering what Alex Consani is doing in ‘American Horror Story’, the short answer is a whole lot of witchcraft. The season had a premiere date of September 24 on FX and Hulu. Here is everything we know about her role, the coven she joins, and why this crossover has fans buzzing.

Alex Consani as Morwenna the Witch

Consani appears as a witch in the season’s trailer, and the show’s official page teases an all star cast. The casting also builds on a résumé that already includes pop culture heavyweights. She has previously starred in music videos for Charli XCX and Doja Cat.

The first look at the coven in action came from the streets of New York. Consani was photographed filming in SoHo on July 9 alongside Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Sarah Paulson, Leslie Grossman and Avantika Vandanapu. The images instantly set social media on fire.

One photo in particular caught attention. Paulson and Consani were pictured seemingly trading secrets between takes. Consani and Vandanapu were singled out as newcomers among their witchy sisters. For Consani, the role marks her feature acting debut.

‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Sequel Explained

Plot details remain tightly guarded, but the clues point in one direction. The exact story is being kept under wraps, though the cast reunions suggest a return to the Coven and Apocalypse storylines. Coven was the third season of the show and was set in New Orleans, following a group of witches descended from Salem.

The set photos made things even clearer. The images confirmed that the new episodes will continue the story of the Coven season, which remains one of the anthology’s most beloved runs. Paulson was captured reprising Cordelia Goode, alongside Roberts as Madison Montgomery, Sidibe as Queenie, Grossman as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt and Conroy as Myrtle Snow.

The witches are not the only familiar faces. The trailer reveals returning characters from Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Cult and Apocalypse. Evan Peters summed up the vibe by saying Murphy assembled the cast from all the different seasons. That makes Consani’s arrival feel like a fresh voice joining a legendary reunion.

Alex Consani’s Acting Debut and Modeling Break

Consani’s move into acting is not a random detour. In a Harper’s Bazaar summer cover story, she explained that she is taking a small step back from modeling to think about what she wants, and what she wants is to act, write and direct.

Her calendar backs that up. She has roles in the upcoming A24 film ‘Peaked’ and in the next season of ‘American Horror Story’. She currently fits acting jobs around her modeling work and is being more selective about what she accepts.

She also arrives with a huge built in audience. By early 2024 she had over two million followers on TikTok, and in 2025 she was named to the first Time 100 Creators list. IMDb lists her screen credits as including the Doja Cat video for ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘Charli XCX 360’.

‘American Horror Story’ Cast and Premiere Details

The ensemble is enormous. Alongside Consani, the cast includes Avantika, Jamie Brewer, Elle Chapman, Frances Conroy, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Mena Suvari and John Waters, among others. The thirteen episode season was set to open with three episodes, followed by three more during premiere week.

There were a few surprises in the lead up. Jessica Lange returns for her first appearance since the Apocalypse season. Ariana Grande was rumored to join, but according to Deadline she will not appear because of timing.

The stakes feel high for the franchise as well. This is the first batch of new episodes since 2024, the longest gap between seasons since the show began. Rumors have suggested this could be the final chapter, but FX has not confirmed a farewell.
