‘Elsbeth’ Season 4 Release Date, Plot, Cast, Trailer and Everything Else You Need to Know as the Series Finally Returns
The CBS crime comedy ‘Elsbeth‘ returns on Thursday, October 8, with its premiere episode titled “Crazy in Love.” CBS ordered the new run back on January 22, as one of ten renewals the network announced that day. After months of waiting, fans of Carrie Preston’s endlessly underestimated attorney can finally circle a date.
The return of ‘Elsbeth’ comes with a new time slot, a stacked guest list and some unfinished family business. Here is everything you need to know about the release date, time, where to watch and what to expect from the premiere.
‘Elsbeth’ Release Date and Rollout
The premiere, “Crazy in Love,” is set to air on October 8, 2026. That makes it one of the first big Thursday night swings of the new fall schedule on CBS.

The renewal landed alongside nine other series pickups, and the total number of shows ordered for the new broadcast season reached sixteen at that point. Early reports only said the show would arrive in the fall, with September or October as the likely window. October won out.
Viewers will not have to wait long for a second helping. The second episode, titled “Death of a Playwright,” airs on Thursday, October 15. New episodes then arrive weekly on CBS.
What Time ‘Elsbeth’ Airs on Thursdays
New episodes arrive on Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT. That is an earlier slot than before, since the show spent most of its run at 10/9c.
The shift happened because ‘Matlock’ moved to midseason, which changed the lineup around the show. For longtime viewers it means a slightly earlier bedtime and a fresh Thursday routine.
One schedule report says the show will be followed by ‘Cupertino,’ a new legal drama from Robert and Michelle King. That would keep the creative family together on the same night.
Where to Watch ‘Elsbeth’ Live and Online
The simplest answer is CBS, where new episodes air weekly. If you have an antenna or cable package, you are already set.
Paramount+ subscribers on the Premium plan can watch the premiere as it airs live on their local CBS station through the Live TV hub. Cord cutters have a clear path to the show without much hassle.
‘Elsbeth’ is a spin-off of ‘The Good Wife,’ and the Kings are executive producers on both shows. Preston and Wendell Pierce star in the series, which follows Elsbeth Tascioni as she works alongside the NYPD in New York City.
‘Elsbeth’ Premiere Preview and Guest Stars
In “Crazy in Love,” Elsbeth crosses paths with a renowned marriage counselor named Serena Collyer, played by Nicole Scherzinger, whose calm exterior hides a messy and murderous passion. Teddy also sets a wedding date, and Gloria Reuben returns as Claudia Payne. Sarah Beckett wrote the episode and Nancy Hower directs.
The premiere also has some story threads to pick up. The third season ended Elsbeth’s romance with her Scottish beau, Angus. Alec won his campaign but lost his relationship with Elsbeth because of his dishonesty, and Teddy got engaged in the finale. Showrunner Jonathan Tolins told TV Insider that this leaves the door open for Hernandez and Gold to return.
The guest list is where the new run really flexes. Nicholas Braun plays Jeremy Perrick, the son of a famous playwright who has lived in his father’s shadow. TV Insider reported that his episode also features John Doman, Isaac Powell, Tommy Dorfman, Richard Thomas and Betsy Aidem.
Jemima Kirke plays Winter Redgrave, the sleek CEO of a lifestyle brand whose perfectly curated world is threatened by her sister, and Knicks star OG Anunoby makes a special cameo. Lea Michele plays a Pilates trainer named Darcy Miles, Nat Faxon plays a country club member whose miraculous hole in one leads to murder, and Sam Richardson also joins the cast. With a murderer of the week this stacked, who do you think will rattle Elsbeth the most, and would you want Teddy’s wedding to bring his father Mike Tascioni back from the world of ‘The Good Wife’?
