Firehouse 51 has a new face to break in, and he arrives with a résumé that already spans football fields, Detroit streets and comic book universes. Da’Vinchi has joined the cast of NBC’s ‘Chicago Fire‘ as a series regular. Fans of the long-running firefighter drama are already asking who he is and what he brings to the firehouse.

If you are trying to get to know Da’Vinchi on ‘Chicago Fire’, the short version is that he is a familiar TV face stepping into a very busy chapter of the show. Here is a closer look at his character, his earlier roles, and the cast shake-up waiting for him at Firehouse 51.

Who Is Marcus Burke at Firehouse 51?

Da’Vinchi will play Marcus Burke, a firefighter candidate at Firehouse 51. That makes him one of the probies, the newest and least tested people in the house, and the ones who have to earn every ounce of respect from the veterans.

Burke is described as roguish and funny, with a wry sense of humor and a little defiance. That combination is a classic recipe for friction in a firehouse, especially one run by people who take tradition seriously. His arrival is expected to introduce a new dynamic as he works to earn his place alongside the firefighters and paramedics.

He is not the only new recruit either. Jocelyn Hudon previously teased that a bunch of new probies were on the way. If Burke is the loud and cocky one, the house may have its hands full.

Da’Vinchi’s Career Before ‘Chicago Fire’

Da’Vinchi is not exactly a stranger to network television. He played quarterback Darnell Hayes on the CW drama ‘All American’ and last appeared in its seventh season. That series is now wrapping up its run, which makes the timing of this move feel pretty convenient.

His other big role was on the small screen’s crime side. He co-starred as Detroit drug runner Terry “Southwest T” Flenory on the Starz drama ‘BMF’, which was canceled after four seasons in 2025. The character was one half of the real-life crime duo known as the Flenory Brothers.

Going from a drug runner to a firefighter candidate is quite a pivot. It also shows range, since Burke sounds like a very different kind of rule breaker.

The résumé does not stop there. His other television credits include ‘The Boys’ and ‘Jessica Jones’. Few actors can say they have moved between a superhero satire and a Chicago firehouse.

‘Chicago Fire’ Cast Changes Around the Newcomer

Burke is joining at a moment of real upheaval. Original cast member Joe Miñoso, who has played Joe Cruz since the first season, will leave after a few episodes to wrap up his storyline. Dermot Mulroney, who plays Battalion Chief Dom Pascal, is also set to leave early in the new season.

There is also a change behind the scenes. The series enters its new season under showrunner Victor Teran, following Andrea Newman’s departure after last season. A fresh voice in the writers room and a fresh face in the firehouse could signal a shift in tone.

Da’Vinchi has company among the newcomers too. Matthew Daddario of ‘Shadowhunters’ is also joining as a firefighter candidate, and Da’Vinchi broke the news on Instagram. His post showed himself, Daddario and Brandon Larracuente sitting on Truck 81.

Newcomers will have plenty to react to. The established team is still carrying the weight of what came before, and Da’Vinchi arrives with a front row seat to all of it.

What the Firefighter Candidate Walks Into

The new season picks up from one of the show’s most nerve wracking cliffhangers. The previous season ended with Severide, Mouch and several other team members trapped inside a building during a dangerous structure fire. Any new recruit is going to be thrown into the deep end almost immediately.

The season returns on Wednesday, October 7 at 9 p.m. on NBC, between ‘Chicago Med’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’ NBC has not released an official synopsis for the season, so story details remain under wraps. That leaves plenty of room for speculation about how Burke fits in.

The cast he is joining includes Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayo, Hanako Greensmith, Jocelyn Hudon and Brandon Larracuente. That is a close knit group, and a defiant rookie with a quick sense of humor could shake things up in ways the longtime fans will love or hate.

With so many familiar faces heading for the exit, will Marcus Burke’s cocky attitude win over Firehouse 51, or will Severide and the veterans make him earn every single inch?
