‘Ballerina’ Star Ana de Armas Shares Fresh Selfies While Fans Wait for Her Next Big Screen Moment
Whether she is walking a red carpet or sharing a casual selfie, Ana de Armas has a way of making fans stop scrolling. The actress is known for ‘Knives Out’ and earned an Oscar nomination for playing Marilyn Monroe in ‘Blonde.’ Her last release was ‘Ballerina’ in 2025.
Since then, 2026 has been a quiet year on screen, with no acting credits so far. Online, she has stayed selective, posting in bursts for her roughly 16 million Instagram followers. On September 9, she shared a 19-photo carousel that included a boat day, pictures of her dogs and plenty of food, with only a sun emoji as the caption.
Now a new batch of recent selfies is making the rounds. One is a close-up of de Armas in a grey ribbed top and a delicate necklace, her hand resting against her cheek as she looks straight at the camera. In another, she leans against a wall for a mirror selfie in jeans, phone in hand, with red nails that pop against the neutral outfit.
The setting is as eye-catching as the photos themselves. The pink walls are covered in what looks like a hand-painted mural of leaves, flowers and a toucan-like bird, which gives the shots a soft, storybook feel. It is a far cry from the polished red-carpet images she is usually known for.
The selfies follow another comeback of sorts. On October 1, de Armas ended several weeks of silence with a carousel of 11 photos and 2 videos, with no caption and Parcels’ song ‘Summerinlove’ playing over it. Her previous post had come on September 9.
That carousel mixed selfies with sunsets, landscapes, shoes in the sand and a statue of the Virgin Mary that appears to have been shot inside a church. One of the selfies was a mirror shot in a grey knit top. Clues in the images, including an aerial view of the Greek island of Lefkada, suggested a trip to Greece, and the videos showed waves on a beach and a firework at what looked like a street celebration.
As the photos keep fans engaged, the bigger question is what she will be doing next. The first project to watch is ‘Sweat,’ a remake of a Polish psychological thriller in which she plays fitness influencer Emma Kent. The story follows Emma as she tries to match the success of her idol, social media star Kat Highbrook, and ends up in a dangerous arrangement with an obsessive fan.
J Blakeson, who also directed ‘I Care a Lot,’ is directing the film, and it is based on Magnus von Horn’s Polish film of the same name, which was in official selection at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. AGC Studios has come aboard to finance and co-produce, and filming reportedly began on March 30, 2026, in Los Angeles and the UK.
She also has a handful of other projects in the pipeline. She is set to play Sofia Jiménez in the thriller series ‘Safe Houses,’ and she is attached to ‘Palm Grove,’ an erotic thriller opposite Kate Hudson. Another is ‘Impunity,’ directed by Felipe Gálvez, which reunites her with Sebastian Stan, and a film called ‘Reenactment’ has been rumored.
None of these titles has a confirmed release date. That makes her Instagram updates one of the few regular windows into what she is up to between projects.
There is something about a low-key selfie that works differently from a studio portrait or press-tour appearance. By keeping captions minimal and letting the photos speak, de Armas gives fans a glimpse of her life without turning it into a campaign.
For a star with a gap in her acting calendar and several high-profile films on the way, that approach keeps the conversation going. The audience clearly wants more of her, and each new post is a reminder of how much anticipation is building around her return to the screen.
