Monica Barbaro has quietly become one of the most interesting dressers of the year. Between a hit summer rom-com and a controversial new drama, she has treated each press tour as a chance to try a different fashion personality.

Her latest set of photos continues that streak, with a soft, romantic look for one of the season’s most talked-about films.

‘Artificial‘ is Luca Guadagnino’s comedy-drama about the 2023 firing and rehiring of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, played by Andrew Garfield. Simon Rich wrote the screenplay, and Yura Borisov plays Ilya Sutskever.

Barbaro plays Mira Murati, who becomes OpenAI’s chief technology officer and grows increasingly worried about Altman’s actions. The ensemble also includes Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Chris O’Dowd, Ike Barinholtz and Mark Rylance.

For the latest press photos, Barbaro wore an ivory pleated blouse with a deep V-neckline and a tie-front detail at the bust. The top is decorated with delicate floral appliqués in muted tones, and an olive-green color-block band curves across the waist before meeting a black skirt.

Her dark brunette hair falls in soft, glossy waves with a side part, and her makeup is warm and glowing, with a rosy flush and a soft pink lip. Small earrings keep the focus on the top’s embroidery.

The overall effect is romantic without being fussy. The olive and black give an otherwise light blouse some grounding, and the tie-front detail adds a playful note. I couldn’t find a confirmed designer credit for the outfit.

The look fits a pattern. During the press run for ‘One Night Only’, her romantic comedy with Callum Turner, she wore a fringed mini dress by Conner Ives, a Sandy Liang gingham set and a tuxedo-style shirt from Tom Ford’s pre-fall 2026 collection designed by Haider Ackermann.

Fashion writers noted that she was flipping the script on rom-com dressing, trading the usual flouncy pastels for sharper tailoring. In other outings she has worn a vintage-inspired shift dress and precisely tailored Bermuda shorts.

Barbaro is a Dior ambassador, and her red carpet looks tend toward old Hollywood glamour. Style profiles point to a corseted Vivienne Westwood gown, a voluminous Dior skirt and an architectural silver Ashi Studio look, all favoring silhouette over fleeting trends.

That approach reflects her rise. She has moved from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘FUBAR’ to a star-making turn as Joan Baez in ‘A Complete Unknown’, and each step has come with a sharper sense of style.

Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Artificial’ Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed After Critics Call It the Real Sequel to ‘The Social Network’

‘Artificial’ premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 5 at Alice Tully Hall, and a gala screening followed at the BFI London Film Festival. First reactions called it provocative and visceral, and some critics went as far as calling it Guadagnino’s best film in a decade.

Reviews have praised Garfield’s performance as a chilling, manipulative Altman. Some critics felt Barbaro’s Murati was underused, while others described the character as another tricky figure in the story.

The film’s path to theaters has been dramatic. Amazon MGM Studios, which developed it, announced in June that the movie would be better served if it were released by a different studio. The decision raised eyebrows because it came just months after Amazon signed a major partnership with OpenAI, including a $50 billion investment.

Neon ultimately acquired the film and will release it on December 25. It is rated PG-13 and runs 2 hours and 20 minutes.

For an actor in a film surrounded by controversy, the press tour is a chance to shape the conversation. Barbaro’s choice of a soft, floral blouse is a deliberate contrast to the dark, satirical tone of the story.

It also keeps her fashion profile climbing. With a busy awards season ahead, fans can expect plenty more looks as ‘Artificial’ heads toward Christmas.

What do you think of Monica Barbaro’s floral-embroidered look for the Artificial press tour?
