Marvel fans have waited five years to find out where Vision went after the final moments of ‘WandaVision’. With the premiere only days away, the wait is almost over.

Marvel Television is now making a final push to remind audiences what’s at stake for the synthezoid.

‘VisionQuest‘ arrives as the last installment in a story that began with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021 and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’ in 2024. Created and run by showrunner Terry Matalas, known for ‘Star Trek: Picard’, it picks up with the rebooted White Vision as he struggles to regain his humanity and memories.

Filming wrapped back in August 2025, so fans have been waiting more than a year for the finished series. The show is part of Marvel’s Phase Six and consists of eight episodes.

Marvel Studios has now released a new teaser for ‘VisionQuest’, a short clip arriving ahead of the October 14 premiere on Disney+. It follows a string of trailers that have steadily revealed more of the story, including a longer look in early October.

The latest teaser leans into Ultron’s agenda. Reports say it confirms that the sentient AI has a much more dangerous plan than helping Vision, with Ultron aiming to control humans without killing them.

James Spader is back as Ultron for the first time in more than a decade. His last major MCU appearance was in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, the same movie that introduced Vision, and Ultron originally wanted to use the body that eventually became Vision’s.

In the series, Spader plays Ultron as the personification of the AI as Vision sees him in his mindspace. The actor has described the character as a lot older and wiser than his ‘Age of Ultron’ incarnation, which he likened to a teenager. In the footage, Ultron has also taken on a new avatar, and when E.D.I.T.H. asks about his chosen look, he replies that it suits him.

Vision has been hiding after escaping people who tried to weaponize him. While in seclusion, he consults the AI personas in his programming, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and Ultron.

His peace ends when a bounty is placed on his head. He goes on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy played by Ruaridh Mollica who may be the reincarnation of Vision’s son.

Paul Bettany stars as Vision, with Spader as Ultron. The cast also includes Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, along with Emily Hampshire and James D’Arcy.

Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Bettany, Mary Livanos, Matalas, Jac Schaeffer and Christopher J. Byrne are among the executive producers. Directors include Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and Matalas.

The show launches with a two-episode premiere on October 14, with the remaining episodes following weekly on Wednesdays. Reports on the exact cadence have differed, with the finale expected in November.

The premiere was first announced at Disney’s Upfront presentation, and Marvel unveiled its first trailer and poster at D23 in August. Bettany, Spader and Feige took the stage together at the Honda Center in Anaheim for that reveal.

Matalas has described the dynamic between Vision and Ultron as a central pillar of the series. Spader has said Ultron both loves and hates Vision, which gives their relationship an unusual mix of tension and intimacy.

That relationship also sets up a larger question. Vision was created using a part of Ultron, so the show can explore what it means to share DNA with your greatest enemy.

‘VisionQuest’ arrives as Marvel reshapes its television plans. ‘Zodiac’ was recently announced for 2028, while ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ ends next year and ‘Wonder Man’ was canceled after its premiere season.

Bettany has also said he is pretty sure he will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, although he has not been formally confirmed for either. ‘Doomsday’ opens on December 18, which means Vision’s story may not end with this series.
