On October 2, Rossum arrived at Edward Enninful’s Paris Fashion Week party in a sleek all-black outfit that included a sheer mesh V-neck top, a black leather mini skirt and knee-high boots. Two days later, she shared photos of herself in a fitted black knit dress with a high neckline and her signature voluminous curls.

Black has become a through line for her this year. Rossum is best known for playing Fiona Gallagher on Showtime’s ‘Shameless’ from 2011 to 2019. She explained that she had already launched her production company, Composition 8, and set up her first show when she was offered 2 more years.

That first show was ‘Angelyne’, the Peacock limited series she starred in and executive produced. It earned 3 Creative Arts Emmy nominations and an 87% Rotten Tomatoes score, and she followed it with a role in Apple TV+’s ‘The Crowded Room’ and, now, ‘Furious’.

Her recent interviews have been just as talked-about as her photos. On the Pretty Tough podcast in late September, Rossum said the nude scenes on ‘Shameless’ had a bizarre effect on her dating life, because the men she went out with arrived with preconceived notions about who she was.

She also recalled a date who was hesitant to take things further because of his political aspirations. It’s the kind of honest reflection that has made her a favorite among fans, who seem to appreciate how open she is about the pressures of a long-running show.

Put together, the photos, the fashion appearances and the new series paint a picture of an actress in full control of her image. Rossum is 40, and she has built a career that now includes producing, directing and starring in her own projects.
