Final trailers carry a special kind of weight. They arrive when the story is mostly settled, the tickets are on sale, and studios have one last chance to tell audiences why they should show up on opening weekend. For the closing chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy, that moment has come right as the ‘Dune: Part Three’ trailer rollout enters its last stretch.

The marketing so far has been steady. The first teaser arrived on March 17, offering a first look at Robert Pattinson’s villain Scytale and a series of intense battle glimpses. A fuller trailer followed on July 8 at an IMAX global fan event in Los Angeles, where Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet unveiled the footage before an audience of devoted fans and press.

Now the studio is reportedly ready to close the campaign. The final trailer for ‘Dune: Part Three‘ is set to be released later today, according to an announcement circulating alongside a new piece of artwork. The image shows the Emperor seated at the top of a long stepped dais beneath a vast domed ceiling, with robed figures standing guard and a crowd of hooded onlookers gathered below.

The image leans into the political side of the story. Paul Atreides is no longer a wandering prophet but a ruler, and the scene frames him as distant and isolated above a sea of followers. That matches the setup described for the film, which picks up 17 years after the events of ‘Dune: Part Two’, when Paul is an Emperor facing the consequences of his reign.

No specific release time or runtime for the trailer has been confirmed, so fans will be watching closely for when it goes live. It is also unclear how much of the previous footage will be reused. The earlier trailers have already shown a lot, from Paul preparing for war to the new threats closing in around him.

The film adapts Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’ and follows Paul as old allies return and betrayal lurks everywhere. The July trailer showed Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan and Pattinson’s Scytale discussing a “regime change,” which Irulan translates as killing Paul. It also highlighted Zendaya’s Chani, whose romance with Paul has grown complicated, and who now wants a child.

The cast is stacked. Chalamet leads alongside Zendaya, Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, while Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho and Pattinson joins as Scytale. Isaach de Bankolé is among the newcomers as Farok.

Villeneuve has described the film as more action-packed and tense than his earlier entries because it centers on a man living with absolute power. He has also said it will be his last ‘Dune’ film. That adds an extra layer of finality to every new look.

The timing is not accidental. ‘Dune: Part Three’ opens December 18, the same day as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, in a head-to-head matchup fans have nicknamed Dunesday. Early reports suggest ‘Doomsday’ leads in raw presales, while ‘Dune’ dominates premium IMAX 70mm ticketing.

The film holds an exclusive 3-week IMAX window and reportedly earned around $10 million on the first day of wider presales, a franchise best. Current AMC listings put its runtime at 2 hours and 30 minutes, which is shorter than both previous films. Early-access screenings in IMAX 70mm are scheduled for December 14.

With less than 2 months to go, a strong closing trailer could help turn that momentum into opening weekend crowds. Every studio is fighting for screens and attention, and the last trailer often shapes the final impression.
