McKenna Grace Keeps the ‘Hunger Games’ Press Tour Sparkling With a Dazzling New Look
Few franchises are as tied to fashion as ‘The Hunger Games‘. From the Capitol’s extravagant costumes to Katniss’s famous wedding dress transformation, clothing has always been part of the storytelling. It makes sense that the press tour for the newest film has turned into a runway of its own.
Leading the style charge for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ is McKenna Grace, who plays a District 12 tribute alongside Joseph Zada’s young Haymitch Abernathy. The tour kicked off in Sydney on October 14, with Grace and Zada posing beside Sydney Harbour with the Opera House behind them. Since then, her press looks have been drawing attention nearly every stop of the way.
The newest one to spark buzz is a sparkling sequined outfit with a geometric pattern in red, blue and gold. It features a bold red collar and a jeweled blue bow at the neckline, and Grace pairs it with a polished ponytail and wispy bangs. Fashion outlets have covered a colorful Gucci sequin dress from the tour, which makes the new photos part of an already celebrated run of looks.

The wardrobe has leaned into whimsy from the start. Earlier in the tour, Grace wore a gown inspired by Katniss’s wedding dress from ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, a clear nod to the franchise’s costume history. Other highlights include an archival Vera Wang lace dress in Australia and an archival lime-green Betsey Johnson mini dress covered in lace trim.

She has also worn a butter-yellow tweed mini with a floral-embroidered handbag and an archival Monique Lhuillier gown. One style writer described the overall approach as a whimsical, coquette-inspired mix of vintage silhouettes and sharp tailoring. Grace has also shared a series of looks on social media, including a sheer blue mini dress and a white mini with bows.
Fans have noticed. Reaction to her recent appearances has been warm, with commenters praising her fairy-tale aesthetic and some comparing her looks to a fantasy Barbie from the 1990s. A few have offered playful critiques of small details, but the general mood is admiration.

On screen, Grace takes on a double role as twins Maysilee Donner and Merrilee Donner, and she is also credited with the film’s songs. Maysilee is a District 12 tribute who becomes the first person to wear the Mockingjay pin. The role puts her at the center of the story’s 50th Hunger Games, which is also the Second Quarter Quell.

The film is a prequel to ‘The Hunger Games’ and a sequel to ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’, based on Suzanne Collins’s 2025 novel. It follows 16-year-old Haymitch as he is forced to compete, 24 years before Katniss. Grace’s co-stars include Whitney Peak as Haymitch’s girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird, Ben Wang as the other male District 12 tribute, and Iris Apatow as Effie’s younger sister.
The ensemble is stacked. Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow, Jesse Plemons is Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning is Effie Trinket and Kieran Culkin is Caesar Flickerman. Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor and Kelvin Harrison Jr. also appear.
Francis Lawrence returns to direct, and the film arrives in US theaters and IMAX on November 20. Australian audiences get it a day earlier, on November 19. It is rated PG-13 and runs roughly 2 hours and 38 minutes, according to listings.

Lionsgate has set the soundtrack album for November 13, a week before the film opens, with Noah Kahan’s “Draw You Out” already out as an early single. The studio also released what it called its first official fan-edited trailer. With a few weeks left, expect more eye-catching outfits as the tour keeps traveling.
