First Look at Limited Edition ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Funko Pops Brings Professor X and Red Guardian to Collectors
Movie merchandise has become part of the countdown to a blockbuster, and few properties feed the collector market like Marvel. Every new trailer or poster tends to be followed by a wave of figures, and fans have learned to watch retailers as closely as studios. With the December release approaching, the toy aisles are now as busy as the marketing feed for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
Funko kicked off its wave earlier this month with a wide lineup of Pop! Vinyl figures inspired by the film. The first group covered Doctor Doom, Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Thor, Steve Rogers, Mister Fantastic, Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi and Namor. It also included a Concept Series Lord Doom and a Pop! Jumbo Sentinel, and each standard figure is priced at $14.99.
Now a first look has surfaced at two additions that expand the collection further. Limited edition Pops of Professor X and Red Guardian have appeared in photos of the packaging, adding a pair of fan favorites to the crossover roster.
The Professor X figure is numbered 1648 and shows the X-Men leader seated in a dark suit, with his signature bald look and a stern expression. Red Guardian is numbered 1649, with a mustache, tinted aviator-style sunglasses and a blue headband. Both are labeled as bobbleheads.
They arrive in holographic packaging with a “Limited Edition” badge, and the boxes appear to list a run of 9,500 pieces each. The Professor X box also carries a QR-coded sticker. Funko has not yet announced official release details or where the figures will be sold.

Limited releases are a big part of the company’s plan for the film. A Nightcrawler exclusive numbered 1642 has been offered through Entertainment Earth, while Target has the Doctor Doom with Franklin and Bucky Barnes exclusives and Walmart has Beast. Funko’s own store carries a Lord Doom exclusive and a die-cast Doctor Doom priced at $49.99, with a chrome chase variant at a 1:6 ratio.
The company’s bundle is another draw. For $89.94, it includes Magneto, Thor, Mister Fantastic, Cyclops, Doctor Doom and Yelena, plus an exclusive mystery deco variant. The bundle is listed with an estimated ship date of November 19, while the variant is estimated to ship on May 18, 2027.
There is also a smaller scale option. The Bitty POP! range features 0.9-inch figures, including 4-packs at $14.99, 2-packs at $5.99 and mystery singles at $2.99 across 12 characters. A Bitty POP! Town set at $7.99 pairs Red Guardian with Avengers Tower, which means the character already has a place in the lineup.

The pairing reflects the film’s crossover premise. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X represents the X-Men side of the story, which brings heroes from Fox’s earlier films into the MCU. David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov, better known as Red Guardian, represents the newer generation of MCU characters tied to the New Avengers.
Together, they capture the central idea behind ‘Avengers: Doomsday’: heroes from 3 distinct universes colliding against a threat none can face alone. The cast is enormous, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Florence Pugh and many more. The film arrives in theaters on December 18.
Fans hoping to grab the new limited edition figures will want to keep an eye on official channels. The broader collection is available now through Funko.com and retailers such as Target and Entertainment Earth, but the new pair has no confirmed on-sale date yet. Given how fast exclusives tend to sell, early information will matter.
For many collectors, the appeal is in building a shelf that mirrors the film’s cast. With Doom in multiple versions, plus heroes, mutants and Fantastic Four members, the wave is one of the largest Marvel Pop! lineups in recent memory. And with weeks left before opening day, more reveals are likely to follow.
