Movie theater merchandise has become its own kind of blockbuster event, and Marvel knows how to play the game. Every big release now comes with a race to see which chain can offer the most elaborate popcorn bucket. For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the villain is getting the full treatment, and the latest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ collectibles come from Brazil.

The film opens on December 18, with the Russo brothers directing and Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom. It is built as a crossover that puts heroes from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men on a collision course with Doom. The campaign has leaned heavily on the villain, with promotional art, statues and merchandise all built around his throne and green Latverian look.

Cinemark Brasil has now revealed its own exclusive collection. The chain announced four limited-edition collectibles, available only at Cinemark in Brazil, with presales starting October 29. Prices haven’t been shared, though the limited-edition label suggests the items may sell out quickly.

The lineup includes a popcorn bucket shaped like Doom’s head and a cup inspired by his throne, both lit by LEDs. The collection also includes a metal bucket decorated with Doom imagery and an exclusive pin made with Iron Studios. In Brazil, the film is known as ‘Vingadores: Doutor Destino’.

The head-shaped bucket is sculpted to look like Doom’s hooded metal mask, complete with glowing green eyes. The matching cup shows Doom seated on a carved stone throne decorated with geometric symbols, and Avengers and Fantastic Four logos are embossed above him. Translucent green parts and a green straw complete the look.

One open question is how fans reach the popcorn. The promotional images don’t clearly show a lid, hinge or opening on the mask, though it most likely opens at the back of the head.

The designs first spread online as a Cinemark release, and many fans assumed they were coming to American theaters. Later reports clarified that the glowing Doom head was posted by Cinemark Brasil for theaters in Brazil, and that no US chain had announced a Doomsday popcorn bucket as of mid-October. AMC and Regal list a Doctor Doom Mask Light for $29.99 as a pre-order, but not a bucket.

Cinemark is the biggest theater chain in Brazil, so the collectibles are real, but they are tied to that market for now. Fans elsewhere will need to watch for their own chain’s announcements.

The pin ties into a broader push from Iron Studios. In July, the company revealed three statues of the villain, including a 1/10 scale figure of Doom on his throne, a smaller Minico version and a deluxe Legacy statue with lights and swappable arms. All of them were opened for presale.

That partnership gives the Cinemark collection a premium angle. It isn’t just a bucket and a cup, but a set aimed at completists who want something to display.

This isn’t Cinemark Brasil’s first big Marvel move. Earlier, the chain launched an Iron Man popcorn bucket with LED projectors in the eyes for ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’, which was shown with about 7 minutes of new content to promote ‘Doomsday’. That bucket was available for presale at R$299.

Other chains have joined in. Cinépolis revealed a Doctor Doom set of its own with a full-torso popcorn bucket still to come, and Spain’s Cine Yelmo showed a bust-style bucket and cup. Regal is also offering a Doctor Doom ‘Magic: The Gathering’ card to guests at opening weekend Infinity Vision screenings.

Marvel has made the villain the face of the campaign. Giant Doom statues and life-size displays have appeared in cities from Shanghai to Osaka, and the studio has even shown a version of Doom without his hood for the first time. The collectible race is just one part of that push.

The strategy appears to be working. The film has reportedly crossed $100 million in global presales as overseas records fall. With the premiere about seven weeks away, merchandise like this keeps the hype building.

Limited editions with glowing parts tend to draw crowds, and Doctor Doom is a strong draw. The mix of a head-shaped bucket, a throne cup and a premium pin gives fans several ways to join in. For many, owning one will be part of the experience of seeing the film.
