‘Dune: Part Three’ Stars Stun in a New Promo Video, and Korea Gets the Film First

Few franchises can turn a promotional clip into a global event, but ‘Dune‘ has made a habit of it. Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy has built an audience that treats every trailer, poster and cast appearance as a moment worth dissecting. With the final chapter about seven weeks away, the ‘Dune: Part Three’ promotional campaign is shifting into high gear, and the latest piece comes with a distinctly international flavor.

The film is the third and final entry in Villeneuve’s trilogy, adapting Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’. It is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium, with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul now ruling as both emperor and Fremen messiah. Villeneuve has described it as more action-packed and tense than his earlier ‘Dune’ films, since it focuses on Paul living with absolute power.

A new promotional video now features Zendaya, Chalamet, Florence Pugh and Robert Pattinson. In the frame, Chalamet and Zendaya are seated in comfortable chairs on a warmly lit amber set, smiling as they address the camera. The clip carries Korean subtitles, which suggests it was made for audiences in South Korea.

That fits the release plan. Warner Bros. Korea announced that ‘Dune: Part Three’ will premiere in South Korea on December 16, making it the first country in the world to see the film. Reports say the honor is likely linked to the strong performance of ‘Dune: Part Two’ in the country.

The cast has a history with Korean audiences. For ‘Dune: Part Two’, Chalamet, Zendaya, Villeneuve, Stellan Skarsgård and Austin Butler attended a premiere in Seoul, which gave the franchise a high-profile presence there. A personal message from the stars is a natural way to thank that audience.

International rollout across other markets begins on December 16 as well, while North American audiences get the film on December 18. That staggered schedule gives Korea a head start of only a couple of days, but it still carries symbolic weight.

The promo highlights the ensemble that the final trailer, released October 27, put front and center. The trailer focuses on an assassination plot against Paul involving his consort Irulan, played by Pugh, his first love Chani, played by Zendaya, and the new character Scytale, played by Pattinson. Scytale is a shape-shifting Tleilaxu Face Dancer, one of the forces plotting against the emperor.

The rest of the cast includes Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Jason Momoa as a new version of Duncan Idaho and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. Zendaya has said the films have meant a great deal to her, noting that she grew up doing them throughout her 20s.

Visually, the film is designed for premium formats. It was shot primarily on 65mm film stock, with some sequences in 15/70mm IMAX film and the desert scenes captured in IMAX Digital. Hans Zimmer returns to score the film.

Warner Bros. is also giving the film a staged rollout. Dune Insider screenings begin December 14 in IMAX 70mm only, expand to digital IMAX on December 15, and open to the remaining premium large formats on December 17. That puts word of mouth in motion four days before the wide release.

The December 18 date also puts the film in direct competition with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. ‘Dune: Part Three’ has locked up an exclusive IMAX run through the holidays, while Disney has promoted its own premium label for Marvel’s film. That makes the weekend one of the biggest box office showdowns of the year.

Promotional pushes like the new video are part of that fight. With tickets already on sale around the world, every message from the cast helps keep the film in the conversation.

The trilogy’s conclusion marks the end of Chalamet and Villeneuve’s time in this universe, which adds emotional weight to the campaign. Fans are expecting political intrigue, a tragic love story and a villain who could reshape Paul’s reign. The promo clips are a reminder that the cast is as invested in the farewell as the audience.
