‘Avengers: Doomsday’ New International Poster Puts Doctor Doom Center Stage and Locks In an Early Release
Marvel’s marketing machine has been working overtime on the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ international poster campaign, and the artwork keeps getting bigger. Every new version seems to tell the same story: Doctor Doom is the main event, and the heroes are standing in his shadow. With the Russo brothers’ crossover now less than 2 months away, each fresh piece of key art lands like a countdown clock.
The campaign has followed a clear pattern. The first Doom poster arrived alongside the trailer, and a later one from the Comic-Con presentation gave Robert Downey Jr.’s villain a full-body portrait in a green cloak and metal armor. A ‘Team Doom’ poster then showed him on a throne flanked by 3 Latverian witches.
Now a new international poster has surfaced, and it comes with a detail that matters as much as the artwork. The Chinese version of the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ poster features the film’s title in Chinese characters and a December 16 date, paired with a line announcing a global early release. That date is 2 days ahead of the film’s December 18 debut in the United States.

Visually, the poster sticks to the formula that has defined the campaign. A hooded, armored Doctor Doom looms over the frame, bathed in the same green glow seen on earlier artwork. Beneath him stand the heroes, including Thor and Chris Evans’ returning Steve Rogers, with a smaller team gathered at the bottom of the frame among the wreckage.
It’s a layout that reinforces how Marvel is selling this movie. Even as the posters finally let more of the ensemble in, one outlet pointed out that Doom remains the biggest presence on the board. That makes strategic sense when the cast is this enormous, since a single dominant figure keeps the artwork from turning into a cluttered mess.
The ensemble really is enormous. The film unites the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and Wakandan heroes against Doom, and it marks Evans’ return to the franchise for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’. It’s also the 39th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The early date isn’t a random scheduling quirk. Disney has confirmed that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will open in Chinese theaters on December 16, and the country will be one of the few international markets to screen the film in IMAX. Reports say that China window is helped by ‘Dune: Part Three’ being pushed to December 31 there, which clears premium screens for Marvel’s blockbuster.
China has long been a major prize for the franchise. When ‘Avengers: Endgame’ arrived in 2019, it earned roughly $575.8 million in China alone during its first 11 days. Early tracking suggests the appetite is still there, with the new film’s want-to-see count on the ticketing platform Maoyan reaching 253,000 at 69 days before release, close to the 264,000 that ‘Endgame’ had at the same point.
The film had also been named the most anticipated movie of the year on the review platform Douban as far back as December 2025. That kind of long-running buzz explains why Disney is investing in localized artwork for the market.
The poster also lands in the middle of one of the most talked-about box office battles of the season. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’ are both scheduled for December 18 in the United States, a clash fans have nicknamed ‘Dunesday’. IMAX exclusivity for ‘Dune’ means Marvel’s film will rely on a new premium certification called Infinity Vision in most territories instead.
That makes the early international openings even more important. Landing in markets like China ahead of the rest of the world gives the film a head start on momentum and keeps spoilers from spreading as long as possible, and an earlier release also creates a bigger buzz around the movie’s marketing.

There’s an emotional layer to the release as well. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen return as Professor X and Magneto, and Variety reports that the film will be Stewart’s final movie following his death on October 28. For many fans, that will turn the X-Men’s appearance into something much more meaningful than a simple crossover moment.
For now, Marvel is letting the artwork do the talking. The company’s biggest gamble in years still has ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ waiting on the horizon for December 17, 2027, so ‘Doomsday’ is only the first half of the story.
