‘The Batman Part II’ Reportedly Hit Another Snag on Set This Month

Big-budget superhero shoots rarely run smoothly, and the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 hit has already had a bumpy ride. After years of development, filming finally began this summer, with Robert Pattinson returning as the Caped Crusader.

Things took a turn in early October. Production paused when Reeves stepped away for personal reasons, according to an exclusive from Deadline. The studio said the pause was temporary while Reeves focused on a family matter.

Now, a new report suggests the shoot has had another, far more physical hiccup. ComicBook.com shared the news on X, pointing to a story from The Sun, which claims filming was halted earlier in October after a cast member was hit by the Batmobile.

The accident is said to have happened during a dramatic scene, and the unnamed person involved is reportedly recovering at home after hospital treatment. A source told the paper the scene went “horribly wrong”, and that crew members on set said the vehicle had run someone over.

The report doesn’t say who was hurt. The Sun says it contacted the cast member believed to be involved, and that person did not deny it. Warner Bros. and DC Studios haven’t publicly addressed the claim, at least not in anything surfaced so far.

There’s some reassuring news. Production has since resumed at Leavesden Studios outside London, and the film continued shooting after the accident, so it shouldn’t push the release date back any further than earlier setbacks already have.

It also helps to keep the timeline straight, because the two stories are easy to blur together. The Sun’s report does not tie the accident to the earlier pause, which was linked to Reeves’ family matter. As far as the available reporting goes, these are separate events.

The director situation has its own wrinkles. DC Studios said Steven Soderbergh would step in, with the studio’s full support, to help Reeves complete the final weeks of principal photography. That’s a notable name to have on standby for a franchise this closely guarded.

DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran guaranteed that filming would resume, and James Gunn made clear Reeves is still the director. For a fan base that has waited a long time for this sequel, those assurances matter.

The cast list is also a big part of the hype. Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Brian Tyree Henry have joined the sequel. That is a lot of star power riding on a shoot that keeps making headlines for the wrong reasons.

The film isn’t going anywhere just yet. It’s still scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 18, 2028, and there has been no announcement of a further delay. Sources told Deadline it was too early to say whether the October pause would affect that date.

Of course, the accident claim comes from a single tabloid source, and it hasn’t been confirmed by the studio. Until Warner Bros. or the person involved says more, fans are left with an unnamed cast member, a Batmobile and plenty of questions.

What does seem clear is that this production has had a tough month. The good news is that the cameras are rolling again, and the person reportedly hurt is on the mend.
