Marvel Studios is getting ready to send the stars of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ around the world, and the film is already shaping up as the largest ensemble the studio has ever put on screen. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the crossover brings together heroes from 3 distinct universes and sets them on a collision course with an existential threat unlike anything they have faced.

The Russo brothers return to the franchise after directing ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Stephen McFeely is writing the screenplay, and Robert Downey Jr. is stepping into the role of Doctor Doom rather than reprising Tony Stark.

During a countdown livestream, Marvel confirmed that the cast will head out on a global tour, with Las Vegas named as the first stop. São Paulo, Brazil, was then announced as a major stop for Latin America, which one Mexican outlet described as one of the most anticipated dates before the worldwide debut in theaters.

The full list of locations is Las Vegas, São Paulo, Gold Coast, Rome, London, Seoul, Shanghai, Toronto and Los Angeles. That puts 9 cities on the itinerary, spread across 5 continents, so fans in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia all have a chance to be part of the buildup.

The roster is the reason this tour matters. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor and Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers, while Anthony Mackie leads as Sam Wilson, the current Captain America. Sebastian Stan appears as Bucky Barnes, and Florence Pugh returns as Yelena Belova.

The Fantastic Four are part of the story too, with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki, Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang, and Kelsey Grammer is on board as Hank McCoy, also known as Beast.

The X-Men are the other big draw. James Marsden returns as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn is back as Mystique, and Channing Tatum is playing Gambit, bringing the mutant characters from earlier Marvel films into the same story as the current Avengers.

Downey’s Doctor Doom is the center of it all. The Russo brothers have said his performance includes performance capture technology. Most of the cast was revealed in a livestream that ran for hours in May 2025.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Countdown Clock Changes Again, and Doctor Doom Now Looms Over Several Cities

The marketing run has been unusual from the start. A teaser first appeared exclusively in showings of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, and December 2025 and January 2026 brought 4 teasers showing the return of Steve Rogers and Thor, the debut of the classic X-Men and trouble for Wakanda.

A CinemaCon teaser followed, giving a first look at Downey as Doctor Doom, and the first full trailer arrived in July 2026. It showed superhero teams from across the multiverse battling the villain. Marvel’s newest footage is an official 30-second TV spot, posted to its YouTube channel on Oct. 25.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ opens in US theaters on Dec. 18, the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three’. Thursday previews are expected on Dec. 17 at many US theaters, while the film opens in the UK on Dec. 16 and in India on Dec. 17.

Theater listings put the running time at 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the official synopsis says the film begins the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga while laying the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The date also makes it the first Avengers movie to arrive during the festive season, since all 4 earlier team-ups were summer blockbusters. The film was previously set for May 1, 2026, before Marvel and Disney moved it to the Christmas slot.

The story does not end there. ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is scheduled to follow on Dec. 17, 2027, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is meant to set up that sequel as the Multiverse Saga heads toward its finale.
