Doctor Doom’s Tower Finally Gets a Cinematic Close-Up in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and It’s Nothing Like Stark Tower
In the comics, Doctor Doom’s home is Castle Doom, a fortress that rises above his kingdom of Latveria. With Robert Downey Jr. playing Victor von Doom in the MCU, the question is how that stronghold translates to the big screen. The answer, so far, looks far more modern than medieval.
Marvel has been dropping clues about Doom’s base for weeks. Promo art released on October 4 gave fans a first look at Doomstadt Tower, the villain’s Latverian headquarters, with a green and yellow mosaic across its front that suggests it houses his throne room. Merchandise later confirmed the official name by showing a replica of the structure, and other art showed it guarded by Doombots.
Now there is a fresh and far more cinematic view. A new Jeep commercial tied to ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ shows Doomstadt Tower rising high above a misty valley ringed by mountains, with a red Jeep parked in the foreground. The ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ logo sits above the words ‘Assembling Soon’, and the clip is being treated as the first time Latveria has appeared in the MCU.

The most striking detail is the design itself. Instead of a medieval castle, the MCU appears to be giving Doom a glassy skyscraper, and it is unclear whether the tower replaces the castle or is simply his city home. The structure is dark and imposing, standing alone against the mountainous backdrop.
One outlet noted that the look fits the aesthetic seen in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’, which leaned into a 1960s-inspired style. Another pointed out that the tower has virtually nothing in common with Stark Tower or Avengers Tower beyond being tall, which will relieve fans who feared the villain’s setting would echo Iron Man. Given the theories around Robert Downey Jr.’s casting, that distinction matters to a lot of viewers.

The setting is also winning praise from comic readers. A side-by-side comparison circulating online placed the mountain-ringed landscape from the new ads next to classic comic art, noting that Latveria in the film sits between the mountains just as it does on the page. That kind of attention to detail suggests the production wants Doom’s homeland to feel authentic.
It also hints at how big a role the country could play. Rumors have claimed that a lot of the film is set in Latveria, though Marvel has not confirmed that. Promo art has also placed the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in front of Doomstadt Tower, which has fueled theories of a final stand there.
The tower is only the latest world detail to surface through the partnership. Another Jeep spot features Captain America alongside Johnny Storm, The Thing and H.E.R.B.I.E., and fans spotted a glimpse of the tower and castle in that footage as well. Jeep is also the exclusive automotive partner of America250, and the brands planned to promote the movie in the final stretch of the year.
The collaboration began by celebrating the 85-year legacies of the Jeep Wrangler and Captain America, producing a special America250 edition with red, white and blue design touches. In August, Jeep revealed a Doom-inspired vehicle with a black and green wrap, Doomsday lettering and green LEDs. With the new spot, the campaign appears to be well underway.

Marketing has been leaning heavily on the villain. Commentators have noted that the campaign puts Doom front and center, leaning on the expectation that he wins the final battle. A fully realized Doomstadt, complete with a tower that feels completely different from the heroes’ strongholds, helps reinforce that message.
The Russo brothers are directing, and Downey plays Victor von Doom. Marvel has also introduced a ‘Lord Doom’ persona through promo art, which appears to be a third version of the character. With a December 18 release, the studio has plenty of room to show off more of Latveria before audiences get to explore it themselves.
For now, the tower stands as one of the clearest hints of what kind of ruler Doom will be. Whether the final film shows it as a throne room, a fortress or a battleground, it already looks like a place no hero would want to enter.
