The ongoing WGA strike has already affected numerous productions in Hollywood. Though we still haven’t heard about any delays, we expect some movies with already-announced release dates to be postponed. The good news is that some productions remained immune to the WGA strike, including the pre-production of ‘Superman: Legacy.’

Writer and director James Gunn has already confirmed that he turned in the screenplay before the strike and that filming should start in January 2024. Although Gunn likes to tease his followers with new updates on Twitter, he still didn’t give us any legit updates about the casting, apart from the previous confirmation that one actor from his Marvel movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ will have a minor role in ‘Superman: Legacy.’ The first rumors about potential casting surfaced last month, and now, there’s a new update.

James Gunn gets closer to finding new Clark Kent and Lois Lane!

As we all know, Henry Cavill said goodbye to the role of Superman after his last appearance in the post-credit scene of last year’s ‘Black Adam.’ James Gunn announced that he’s looking for a new actor to play Superman in DCU, and according to Deadline, after going through all the audition tapes, the screen tests should begin in roughly ten days.

The report says that three actors are running for the role of Clark Kent/Superman: Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney. While Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Phoebe Dynevor are in the final run for the role of Lois Lane.

Nicholas is best known for the role of young Hank McCoy, aka Beast, in Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise and the role of Nux in George Miller’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’ This isn’t the first time Hoult is running for a DC role. Let’s remember that he was the second top candidate after Robert Pattinson for the role in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman.’ He didn’t get to play Caped Crusader, but he might be lucky with the Man of Steel. David Corenswet is known for starring in the A24 movie ‘Pearl,’ while Tom Brittney is best known for playing Will Davenport in the ‘Grantchester’ series.

As for the potential actresses for Lois Lane, Emma Mackey made her breakthrough performance in Netflix’s ‘Sex Education,’ and also starred in ‘Death on the Nile’ and the British biographical drama ‘Emily.’ Rachel Brosnahan is best known for the role of Miriam “Midge” Maisel in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ which earned her the Primetime Emmy Award and two consecutive Golden Globe Awards. Brosnahan is the only actress so far that opened up about the possibility of playing Lois Lane. Last but not least, Phoebe Dynevor is best known for the role of Daphne in Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton.’
