Latest ‘Superman’ Casting Reports Reveal Who Will Replace Russell Crowe as DCU’s Jor-El

Bradley Cooper and Angela Sarafyan have reportedly been added to the cast of James Gunn’s Superman movie. The news comes from Brazilian outlet Omelete, which shared that the two actors will take on the roles of Superman’s biological parents from Krypton.

In the film, Cooper and Sarafyan are expected to appear briefly in a scene that takes place early in the story. The moment involves Superman receiving a message from his parents while he’s recovering in the Fortress of Solitude.

Though their appearance might be short, it’s said to be an emotional part of the film that connects Clark Kent to his origins.

Sarafyan is known for her work in Westworld and other films, while Cooper is recognized for major roles in A Star Is Born and American Sniper. He’s also famous for voicing Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, where he previously worked with Gunn.

For this film, Cooper is also lending his voice to one of the robots in the Fortress of Solitude, alongside other voice actors like Alan Tudyk, Pom Klementieff, and Michael Rooker.

The movie marks the beginning of DC Studios’ new cinematic universe. David Corenswet stars as Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor. The story follows Superman as he balances life at the Daily Planet with his responsibilities as a hero.

Although Cooper and Sarafyan’s characters likely won’t appear much beyond this film, their roles could still be meaningful. The idea seems to be to show how Superman draws strength not only from his Earth upbringing but also from his Kryptonian heritage.

Superman is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 11. The film is expected to introduce a new version of the character while building out a bigger world for future DC movies.
