First ‘Superman’ Reactions Are In, And They’re Overwhelmingly One-Sided
Fans are already buzzing after getting an early look at James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie. At a recent event in Brazil, the first 30 minutes of the film were shown to lucky attendees. While there was likely an embargo, that didn’t stop several people from sharing their thoughts online—and it looks like viewers were seriously impressed.
Many of the reactions were filled with excitement. One person wrote on social media, “No way I saw the first 30 minutes of Superman after feeling so hopeless the entire day. Needless to say it was DAMN BEAUTIFUL. Time absolutely flew by…”

Another viewer said, “The first 30 mins of #Superman is so fcking good! A fresh new perspective to take the character. David is SO GOOD switching from Clark to Superman and the chemistry with Rachel! We’ve seen a lot and yet WE HAVEN’T SEEN A LOT.”

Someone else posted, “I GOT THE CHANCE TO WATCH THE FIRST 30 MINS OF SUPERMAN AND IT WAS AMAZING!!! @corenswet @JamesGunn HAS DONE IT, SUPER STOKED FOR THIS ONE!!!”

One fan highlighted a specific moment, writing, “Holy… just saw 30 min of #Superman the fly scene is unique and you can feel the speed of Superman. IMAX is a must for this movie.”

This version of Superman marks the start of a new chapter in DC’s future. It’s the first movie under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
The film stars David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Other cast members include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The movie, which was originally titled Superman: Legacy, is about a young Clark Kent trying to do good despite how the world sees him. Based on the footage shown so far, it looks like this film will show a hopeful and fresh version of the character.
Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11.
These reactions are very promising. It sounds like James Gunn is offering a version of Superman that’s full of heart and energy. If the rest of the movie is as good as the first half hour, DC might really be onto something this time. What do you think about this early buzz? Let us know in the comments!
