David Corenswet, the new Superman in the DC Universe, recently revealed his favorite superhero from childhood, and it wasn’t Superman. On CBS Mornings, Corenswet shared that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was the hero who meant the most to him when he was growing up.

He talked about how those Spider-Man movies really connected with him as a kid. “Those were the movies I saw in theaters and were really relevant to me… you’re a nerd who gets bullied and then you get these amazing powers,” he said.

Many fans can understand this feeling because the story of an awkward teenager suddenly gaining powers is exactly why Spider-Man has always been so popular. Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker in the famous Spider-Man trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi. The first film came out in 2002 and helped change superhero movies forever.

Before those movies, superhero films were not as popular or common as they are now. Raimi’s trilogy proved that superhero movies could be exciting and emotional at the same time.

The story showed Peter Parker’s growth from a shy high school kid into a hero who has to face big challenges. Fans loved how real and personal the movies felt. The phrase “With great power comes great responsibility” became one of the most memorable lines in superhero history.

Spider-Man 2 is often called one of the best superhero movies ever made. At the 77th Academy Awards, it won Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing, but didn’t win those awards. The movie did well at the Saturn Awards and was nominated for two British Academy Film Awards. The American Film Institute named it one of the top ten movies of 2004.

Tobey Maguire’s impact as Spider-Man is so big that when news came out he would return in No Way Home, many people immediately expected the movie to be a huge success, and it was both a critical and box office hit.

David Corenswet hopes to have a similar impact as Superman. The upcoming Superman film, directed by James Gunn, will show Clark Kent trying to balance his life on Earth with his alien origins. The movie includes popular characters like Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and other superheroes.

Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult is cast as the villain Lex Luthor. The film also features Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell will appear as Superman’s adoptive parents.

This new Superman movie draws inspiration from popular comic stories like All-Star Superman. Fans are excited to see how David Corenswet will bring this new version of the hero to life.
