Take a Look at the Striking MCU Villain Cut from ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Fans just got a peek at a character who never made it to the big screen, and honestly, she looked amazing. Marvel Studios recently dropped concept art in their book The Art of the Movie, and it revealed a villain who was originally going to appear in Captain America: Brave New World. She didn’t make it into the final movie, but her design was so cool that fans are now wondering what could’ve been.
This mysterious character was going to be played by Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar. She was tied to the Serpent Society, a group from Marvel Comics that’s been teased for years but hasn’t fully shown up in the MCU yet. Even though she got cut from the movie, you might’ve seen her without knowing it, she actually popped up on some early Captain America 4 merchandise, complete with pink hair and a comic-accurate costume.
The concept art shows off a bunch of possible looks for her. In one design, she’s wearing a black, tactical bodysuit that looks sleek but still has a creative edge. Other versions pushed the snake theme even more; some had snake-like tattoos, high-tech masks, and gear inspired by reptiles.

Michael Uwandi, who worked as an art director on the film, came up with some bold ideas for the character. In one version, she had a helmet with wires sticking out like snakes, kind of like the Gorgon from Greek myths. Another idea used facial tattoos that turned into a mask shaped like snakeskin. Uwandi explained that the tattoos weren’t just for show. “Some were meant to show wiring, as if they had a deeper function,” he said.
Her suit was also designed around the weapons she used, tech-based daggers, which gave her a unique and futuristic look. And yes, she kept the pink hair, just like in the comics.
Salazar’s character wasn’t supposed to be a typical bad guy either. The book says she was more of an antagonist than a full-on villain. There was even supposed to be some tension between her and Sam Wilson, now the new Captain America. But that idea didn’t survive all the rewrites and reshoots the film went through. Some rumors said the chemistry between Salazar and Anthony Mackie didn’t work, and early test audiences weren’t feeling it.
Captain America: Brave New World had a lot going on behind the scenes. The movie went through a bunch of changes, and Marvel had to trim things down to keep the story focused. With big names like Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Tim Blake Nelson already leading the story, adding one more major character just didn’t fit.
The movie ended up focusing on the conflict between Sam Wilson’s Cap, President Ross, and The Leader. But not all the Serpent Society ideas got tossed. Giancarlo Esposito shows up as Sidewinder, the head of a secret ops team called Serpent.
So what about the cut villain? There’s no word yet on whether she’ll return in a future project. But the detailed concept art and early merch prove that Marvel saw serious potential in her. Even though she didn’t make it into Brave New World, she might still show up down the line.
If she does, at least fans already know she’ll look awesome.
